Although this place is not fancy, food and service are great. If you are in the area, visiting local boutiques, and don't mind the picnic style tables, I recommend you give it a try.

This location is actually a walkup window, take out establishment. They do have two picnic tables, but the location can't really be considered conducive to dining. The food is of excellent quality & flavor, but Is fairly pricy... Even by Hawaiian standards. In all fairness, it's a great spot to grab a walk around lunch or takeout meal.

Just to illustrate that both Mexican nationals and food is extending to the outer limits of the US, tiny Mi Taqeria Potosina has arrived in the very small village of Holualoa above Kailua-Kona. Fairly standard Mexican fare but fresh and well seasoned--also not lathered with cheese as is so typical with many mainland Mexican restaurants. Liberal cilantro sprinkled over the... More

Our guide book suggested a visit to this tiny village to visit the famous coffee farms for which Kona is famous. Unfortunately there weren't any to be found, just several small art galleries. We were hungry and found this small Mexican eatery next to the village theater. Two Hispanic ladies cook all the food themselves and you eat it at... More

this is the only affordable place to eat in this quaint little village. the chile relleno is very good, as are the steak tacos. their homemade red and green sauces are a great addition to anything you order.

On the Mamalahoa Highway above Kona right in the center of Holualoa and in the same building as the Old Theater and next to the post office. The menu selection is limited but the Mexican food authentic, fresh and fantastic. Well worth the visit for lunch while visiting the areas coffee plantations. The picture on Trip Advisor is not a... This is authentic Mexican food in Hawaii. For years we talked about how we couldn't find it while here. It's arrived. Love the asada tacos.

Great place to stop for lunch while exploring the Kona coffee trail. One of only a few eateries in Holualoa. Authentic Mexican food. Order at the window and eat at one of the 2-3 picnic style tables in front. Five of us, and we all enjoyed our freshly prepared plates... Tacos, tostadas, quesadillas and chile rellenos.

Located in artsy Holualoa, tucked away in a nondescript building is this gem of a taqueria. Home-made style Mexican food prepared tastily with fresh ingredients: big burritos, tempting tamales, magnificent menudo (only on Sundays), and much more. Small, unpretentious patio seating. Family and squawking baby friendly simply because of its informality and it’s so easy to walk around, soothing the... More
