We spend three weeks on the Big Island every year, and Teshima's is a must for at least 3 dinners while we are there. This is a family run restaurant started many years ago. Food is excellent, and many locals choose to dine here, reservations are suggested, prices are excellent.

After a first visit with business colleagues I just had to go back. Great sushi and bento but the sashimi is a true delight. this is a traditional family business going back decades. Totally genuine with no airs & graces. fast efficient service and a good menu selection.

Hubby & I had their special breakfast of eggs, pancake, & meat. It was delicious and cooked just right. Teshima's is a family run restaurant that does maintain specific hours for breakfast, lunch & dinner so always make note of that. There food is always excellent. I have had pork chops before & I really enjoyed them. My husband always... More

Initially ignored this place thinking fish heads and rice. Finally looked at reviews, menu and pictures and decided to go. Wish I had done this sooner. Got the Friday special which was a tray with 9 different items for $14.95. Miso soup, kimche, sweet cucumber slices, kahlua pork, teri beef, fried tofu, panko ahi and 2 more items. Also includes... After ordering Kona Ahi dinner we were served several sides that are included. One of them was a soup. I said that I didn't have a spoon, how am I supposed to eat this dish. I understand chopsticks, but the proprietress proceeded in giving me a lesson on drinking the soup as the Japanese are used to doing. Ladies use... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the #3 option. It was recommended to us and we were suitably impressed. The ambience is old world and reminded me of the early 1960s. Don't bother with dessert.

This is a family restaurant established in 1929. They offer a variety of authentic Japanese food from breakfast to dinner. Reservation highly recommended. Their highchair was super clean. A big plus to traveling families!

Quick bite before heading back to hotel. We picked a great Japanese Restaurant called Teahima's. Authentic, tasty and filling. Loved this place. Very friendly servers. Top notch!

Great lunch spot. Really good veggie tempura, fresh sashimi, and lunch combos are well done. Service is great and the family history of this restaurant makes you want to come back and see this place continue on for many years to come. Highly recommend!!!
