I am a big fan of Roy's. This is not a typical Roy's. This is the worst Roy's of the ones I have visited. Unlike all other Roy's the ambience is cold and dated. The lighting is uninspiring. This was my third and last time. I have a garlic allergy. When we told the waiter that he became visibly uncomfortable.... More

If you're staying in the Waikoloa Resort, this is the best place for dinner IMHO. We choose the prix fixe, a three-course meal with wine pairings. Absolutely divine! Great ambience, professional service, great plate presentations, and most importantly--delicious food. You won't be disappointed.

What started out to be a quick meal at the end of a long day out on the island turned out to be an exquisite dinner with a great wine choice. The seafood stew and the butterfish were excellent! Preparation and presentation were masterful. From appetizer to dessert, this restaurant was a top choice for us.

If you're looking for elegance and refinement, you need a different restaurant. You may need a different island. However, Roy's continues to serve substantial portions of well made food and fresh fish. It's packed on a Saturday night, so book a table on their website in advance. This is a good place to have a big noisy dinner with lots... More

Oh, Roy's. Made me fall in love with Hawaiian food when we first started visiting the island, some years ago. I even bought a cookbook. But the visit last night was so disappointing. Food is still good, not great BUT the real kicker is the astonishing prices and pompous service. Success has made the dining experience far less pleasant, and... More

I first ate at the original Roy's in Honolulu back in the 1990s. They have expanded all over the place now and I fully expected this one to be a sad version of the original. The decor is really spare, but not in a good way. It could use some wallcoverings/color and maybe some art work. It felt a bit... More

There are so many Roy's even on the mainland that it's difficult to do a serious review of this place. Let's just say they do what they do in the best way that they can. But save your travel dollars and just try one of their mainland franchises and you will have the same experience we had eating at their... More

We had dinner at Roy's for the first time in a couple of years, since the last time was disappointing. Once again, we were disappointed. The service was terrible - we waited 20 minutes after being seated and had to ask the staff for a waiter. The entrees' were mediocre at best, and about $50 each. The app plate for... More

Restaurant is as you would expect from a Roy's - good but expensive. However, considering we spent $50 for lunch bentos for 2 people from the grocery store, price is not that outrageous.
