Supermarket with authentic hawaiian fish dishes, very friendly stuff, I had the chance to try everything before buying. Took my boxes full of "Ahi Poke" to the beach and enjoyed!!!!

We were told that the Pono Market had the best Poke (cold chopped up items such as salmon and ahi tuna. We met Robert, the proprietor; lovely guy -- 3rd generation to own the place. He take great pride and joy in serving his customers. The two of us had a large plate which we shared; ample plenty. A fun... More

Great plate lunches with ono-licious fried chicken, great selection of poke & local snacks. The good stuff, including their yummy fried chicken, usually sell out by around 12 noon. 1st time I tried the local Kauai made Kulolo (dessert made with fresh taro, coconut milk & sugar) - got hooked!

. . . after reading the reviews here. The smallish place does not have that great a selection of fresh poke, and the rest of the food is not so great either. The local Safeway has a better poke selection.

Go for lunch at least once a week while visiting Kauai. Even got breakfast here twice this trip as my husband was craving Spam musubi. He LOVES it! Daily specials usually best, and get one early because they do sell out frequently. Each plate lunch comes with two scoop white rice, and one scoop potato mac salad (made with elbow... More

Pono market is a place I recommend to all of our guests. You can get good local food for a reasonable price. They have all types of amazing plate lunches and you can also order local sides like kim chee. Two of my favorites are the chicken musubi and the coconut manju.

Wife had the shrimp poke bowl and I had the spicy ahi tuna poke bowl. We also the a side of mac salad. Price was reasonable and the food was good. Mac salad was traditional Hawaiian style and pretty good.

A good friend and our rental car shuttle driver both mentioned this is the 'must stop' poke place north of the Lihue Airport. Very happy that we listened! Stopped here twice during our four-day stay on the island. First time was around 2pm and they were very clearly wiped out on their usual lunch options. Second time we stopped by... More

This is an unassuming local lunch spot where your order deli style. Get in line and order a poke bowl (one scoop of brown or white rice with your choice of poke). We always ordered half spicy ahi tuna and half sesame ahi tuna - we thought the spicy ahi was too much on it's own. The fish is fresh... More

Small, unassuming spot. A little fish market recommended by a local tour company. The traditional poke bowl was cheap and delicious. Very fresh tasting! Also has a coffee shop inside, but we didn't have any.
