We first tried Saimin on the Big Island prior arriving on Kauai'i. So we sought out this small little "dive" (after finding favorable Trip Advisor reviews) which serves up counter serve Saimin (Hawaiian Noodle Soup). Bring CASH but also bring an appetite. And strike up a conversation with your counter partners (likely to be locals - they will help you... More

I had the fried noodles, and they were good, I should've gotten the saimin. I liked the local, simple feel of the place. Service was quick and curt. Most of the dishes are pre-made, so if you need an ingredient left out then you are out of luck. I had the chiffon pie because so many reviews mentioned it... it... More

We visited this saimin joint in 1991. We remembered it fondly, and couldn't wait to get back! We were not disappointed! The saimin is still great. We went on a Sunday morning and there were no crowds. It was out last stop in Hawaii before returning to the mainland, and we celebrated!

A great local experience of local cuisine. If you love pork in all forms that s is the soup for you. Be sure to add the local enhancements of the vinegar and chili sauce. The side of BBQ beef was worth it. I personally would pass on the hot pink fish cakes. I wish we saved room for the pie,... More

We stopped at this no frills, affordable small diner with saimin that hits the spot, beef & chicken on sticks, & a very yummy super light Lilikoi chiffon pie! Located in Lihue, so an easy worthwhile stop before or after going to the airport.

We were heading to the airport but just had to try the Lillikoi Chiffon pie! Delicious! So glad we stopped. We'll be back for the other yummy food!

The food is great and the atmosphere is very genuine. You get a lot for the buck and the food is excellent. Taste and the freshness of the ingredients are the best. My favorite is the specialty saimin bowl. It has something for everyone. and is a meal in itself.

Stopped by here for a late dinner right from the airport. Good cheap basic food done well. No frills, but delicious bowl of noddles and some really good pie on the back end. Worth a stop.

Amazing, best Manapua in the Islands. Great place for a quick lunch or take out. The Saimin is really really good but on a cold wet day.

My husband loves this place and must stop here in every trip to Kauai! He ordered the special - X-large size! The locals love watching visitors eat their food and give tips on how to best enjoy their dishes. Lots of hot mustard, cayenne sauce, and chili pepper vinegar. This place is nothing fancy, but well worth a visit.
