My family of 11 stopped into Poi by the Pound in Kahului for dinner before heading to the airport for our flights home. It looked almost like a little diner. The food was pretty good but my Korean in-laws said the kimchee could be a lot better. The service staff were friendly, though, a few seemed forgetful or distracted: 1)... More

This is a relaxed , no frills cook to order restaurant. Locals go, tourists go. Kalua pork is yummy. Macaroni is solid. Not a big fan of their squid luau mostly because I find it too sweet but the hubby liked it. Everything in Maui is a bit expensive but this place is well priced. Parking is tight.

Best chopped steak on the Island. Outstanding service with a smile. Killer Hawaiian food ! Hard to find but it is worth time. Use GPS. Small but comfortable.

This is place where locals go to eat. It is very near the airport and it serves very good Hawaiian food at a fraction if the price of more touristy places. I ate ( more accurately attempted to finish) the Hawaiian plate. There was enough food for at least 2 people. It contained chicken ginger soup, poke, poi, pulled pork,... More

My best friend and I visited this place twice during our vacation. When we travel we like to find as many local establishments as possible and this one was outstanding. The staff was more than friendly. they made us feel like we dropped in to see family. The food was served quick, hot and fresh. I had the Kaluah Pork... More

we have eaten here several times since they opened and it is good local food at a good price. Every time we visit Maui, we must eat here at least once a week.

We love hitting Poi by the Pound when we get off the plane, as it really hits the spot when you're craving a good plate lunch. We've eaten here twice now (would have been 3 times but we tried going on a Sunday once, when they're closed!). The meats are awesome--boneless kalbi, kalua pork, and pork laulau are all moist... Very good food. Poke was great. Staff is quite friendly and helpful. Prices were very fair. Napkins need an upgrade to stronger stuff. So how come no alcohol is served or allowed? Sorry we missed the pie for dessert. The last humongous sliced walked by us just as we finished. Next time I'll call and reserve one

As a frequent visitor to Maui from the Bay Area, I now have a favorite place to go for dinner. Poi by the Pound is exactly the type of place I want to eat at when visiting the islands, whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Absolutely love the local dishes served in a place that has a local... More
