You're never going to get too far away from the crowds in BH, but every few yards away from the buses and bustle helps. Planning itinerary with help of TA reviews, we knew we wanted to have dinner here; it lived up to expectations. Pleasant...More

Stopped in for breakfast today. Everything came as ordered. Great service and very reasonable prices for Bar Harbor. I'm local, and will definitely return.

I had to cancel my reservation when I entered the restaurant on a hot September day, which was common during this 2018 summer season. The outside temperature was 82 and the inside at The Friar's was even higher. Too bad because I was looking forward...More

I feel that a dinner at this price level should impress me with more than just the food. This -place did not. After reading reviews and checking websites, we were disappointed that only a bar menu and a few entrée specials were available. Although we...More

The Friar’s Pub is a little off Main Street, but worth the visit. It is housed in an Inn and the room we dined in only had our table for 6 and 2 other tables. It felt like we were in our own home and...More

It was a nice place to eat dinner. Was within very short walking distance of our B & B, the Holland Inn of Bar Harbor.

Description
The Black Friar Inn and Pub is a hidden gem; once you find it we guarantee you will be back! Our three story building is mostly constructed from materials salvaged from the mansions that burned in the great fire of 1947. In season, our highly rated restaurant serves breakfast and dinner daily. Breakfasts at the Friar are hearty and healthy. Portions are generous and everything is made from scratch right here at the Black Friar Inn. Open to the public, breakfast is served from 7:30am to 10:00am. Each afternoon the Friar’s Pub opens at 4pm for happy hour, offering $5 house wine and drafts (Maine selections always on tap) and the company is fine. Settle in after a day in the park in an old-fashioned British pub atmosphere. A full line of spirits, cocktails, wines and craft brews are served. Shareable plates and pub fare, dinner offerings include scotch eggs, crab cakes, Charcuterie board and much more. Dinner service begins at 5pm and blackboard specials change weekly.
