The food was so good, the view was beautiful, and the staff was accommodating while answering the same questions that I'm sure they're asked all day every day (namely, when do I need to arrive to sit by a window). Would go back if we go to Bar Harbor again.

I've been to the reading room a number of times and absolutely love everything about it. The quality of food is among the best in Bar Harbor, with some absolutely breath taking views of Frenchman Bay. I've only ever ordered the lobster pie as the main entree and would recommend this over and over and over again.

My husband and I decided to spend our last evening in Bar Harbor at the Reading Room. Great decision! The food, atmosphere, view...all perfect! While not a cheap meal...it was worth every penny! This will go down as a foodie memory...lobster pot pie...I mean...where else can you get that and have it taste so good?! If you will be in... More

I love their lobster bisque! The food is so yummy and presented in a enticing way. We had both dinner and breakfast there. The breakfast buffet is wonder and you can get an omelete made to order.

After looking around town for somewhere that I could have steak and my fiancé could have lobster this seemed to be the best (and probably most expensive) option. It was the most delicious meal that we had during our trip both of our meals were perfect and worth the money. We only ate in the bar as the restaurant was... More

We read some nice reviews and had our selection narrowed down to the Reading Room and one other restaurant. We settled on Reading Room. We were seated by the window but it was dark, so we weren't fully able to enjoy the view but enjoyed being seated along the edge of the room. The dining room was gorgeous. Our server... More

We happened to be in town for our anniversary, so we searched out a "special occasion" place for dinner. This was as stuffy and uncomfortable as you'd expect for a grand old hotel. We were the youngest people in the room (and we're eligible for AARP). Most diners, I assume, were from the cruise ships. The gentleman playing the piano... More

The filet mignon and lobster tail dinner was excellent, if not very hot. The breakfasts are to die for: don't miss the lobster, dill, and havarti omelet! And their coffee is hot and strong but not bitter--just perfect!
