The food was very good and the staff very friendly. Would definitely come again. Open all day and convenient Civic Center/Hayes Valley location. Locally owned and operated a plus.

Offering a sizable menu, we decided on the French onion soup, turkey club, and chicken tortilla lime soup. The food was quickly brought to our table and tasted wonderful. The restaurant was clean, tidy and offered a variety of seating options.

Our family had a great time here. We started with perfect boysenberry pie, yummy coffee and perfect fresh squeezed OJ while we read our books awaiting the arrival of the rest of our family. When they arrived we ordered ranch eggs, avocado toast, steel cut oats and a breakfast burrito -which is not small. All were excellent and the atmosphere... More

Had dinner after a performance of the Nutcracker. It is a short walk from the Opera house. You order at a counter and food is brought to the table. We ordered the Cobb Salad to share and it was split in two and were nice size portions and a very well done Cobb salad. We also ordered the Cheese steak... More

I met my son for a quick dinner at The Grove before we headed across the street to the Norse Theater for a lecture (Equal Justice: Post Obama). Diners order at the counter and a server brings meals to the table when they are ready. I ordered a Cobb salad and my son, a vegetarian, ordered a pasta dish. The... More

This is a short walk after an opera...and we didn't have to wait. You sit down, look at the menu, walk up to a hip bar area, order, pick up your water, sit down and wait for your food. We ordered short ribs with mashed potatoes, carrots and peas...delicious...and just plain comfort food. There was very little fat on the... More

I ate at the Grove twice during my visit to SF. On the first day i ordered the slow cooked short ribs and on the second day the Meatballs Sandwich and upgraded it to include the Chicken Lime Tortilla soup. The Short ribs were cooked to be soft and carved as a butter, it comes with mashed potatoes. Definitely a... More

The Grove was a nice neighborhood lunch stop for us. It has a nice atmosphere with an assortment of table types (high, low) and even easy chairs near a fireplace. When you enter, you're greeted and given a menu. Then you go to the counter and order/pay, they give you a number and bring it to your table when ready.... More

Bustling spot for lunch downtown. Great salads, healthy sandwiches and savory soups. Good spot for a business lunch or a bite after sightseeing

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighbourhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
