When we visit San Francisco we love to visit Scala's lounge for drinks. The bartenders in this small but comfortable bar are very friendly . Adrian always has time for a conversation , and makes a killer Irish Coffee on cold days. His sidekick Ben is also one of those bartenders who make you feel welcome , even at the... More

Booked a table for my Sis's first stay and dinner in San Francisco. Arrived early but no problem, greeted and seated with ease by delightful hostess despite her being busy. Caesar salad good, swordfish good and my duck plentiful and well cooked but soggy chickory and roast brussell sprouts did not set the scene. First choice of $60 Napa red... More

Kicked off the holidays and the Union Square tree lighting with dinner and drinks. Natalie the hostess, has been there forever, greets you as if you are long lost friends. Nice way to start the evening. Seated in the bar at a window table, we had a great view of the evening scene while sitting in the window enjoying our... More

I dined at this restaurant with three colleagues during a recent business trip. We were seated into a booth - which wasn't my first choice as it makes it a little more challenging for conversation. I was told that this was all that was available - even though we made an advance reservation, I arrived early, and there was countless... More

I love when a waiter wants to bond and be friendly I know it's not always real... it's sometimes an act. But when a waiter is so chummy and honest that he tells you about his terrible day from the get-go.... how he wishes he could be at home ... and repeats this theme throughout dinner, as if he's your... Outstanding food and delightful staff. We try to get here at least once every time we find ourselves in the City for a few days.

Due to the tastes of professional associates I had two dinners here on consecutive nights. The first night there were ~100 of us and we enjoyed an excellent dinner with outstanding service (lamb chops). The next night 30+ of us dined here (swordfish). Again excellent food outstanding service. On the second night the on duty serving personnel misunderstood the contract:... More

Room / Ambience: The front of house seemed nice enough, clearly professionals. We had reservations and were seated in a 2 top just off the bar area. It was loud. Wait Staff: Our waitress gets an A for effort, an A for honesty, an A for helpfulness (she gave us a dessert because our location was so loud and we... More

The cocktails are the first reason I go here. The food is equally good so it's a win-win. The octopus starter is highly recommended!

This place had lovely service, although it felt a bit rushed. Big portions, I had two starters and that was enough, also had dessert, it was a panacotta which was lovely with grape fruit segments. Also had beef carpaccio and a gluten-free seafood pasta, wouldn't recommend either. Would recommend the pinot noir 2007 that they do by the glass.
