Just returned from a trip to India and wanted more Indian cuisine. THIS place did not disappoint! The grilled meats just right and the side veggies dishes were delicious.

Not a very fancy place, but it doesn't need to be. The food speaks volumes. Like home cooking. Great spices and heat level. The prices are also very reasonable.

I live in the neighborhood and had never been here until tonight. I went with some friends and had a nice time. The food was delicious especially the garlic nann and the chicken samosas. The appetizers came pretty fast but the main dished took longer...More

The food is good but the preparation has little strong spices which subdue the essence of the vegetable. Bharta was good and so was the rajma chole ki daal.

The food here is delicious and very reasonably priced. It helps to have a reservation on night when fitting dinner in before a show (it's in the performing arts district: ballet, opera, symphony, etc.) Definitely go with a group so you can share and explore...More

The place had a lot of promise with interesting options on the menu but it just didn't deliver on the promise. The tandoori chicken was the only decent thing but it had too many onions. The paneer appetizer was absolutely disgusting. The tandoori platter we...More

Sir/Madam, I live in CT and am planning to be in San Francisco May 13, 14, 15. I would like to come in with a group of ~16 people on Sunday, May 14 for a graduation party. All of us are vegetarians with 3 vegans in the party. I would like to buy the four course dinner for each member of my group. Questions: a) Can you send me vegetarian options for each of the 4 dinner courses? b) Can you send me vegan options for each of the 4 dinner courses for the 3 people in the group? c) Do you have a private/semi-private area where you can accommodate 16 people in one location, with tables clustered together? d) Where would people park? Do you validate the parking? e) I see that Groupon has a deal for the four course menu for $45 for 2 people, valid on Sundays. Can you provide me with a better deal for a party of 16? If it is useful, you may call me at 203-464-2552. Chetan Lathia Connectictut, USA

Greetings, Ms Lathia; Having only dined there once, I'm afraid I can answer just one of your many complex questions. Mela is closed on Sunday the 14th (and all other Sundays), and they're only open for lunch on Thursdays... More

Mela Tandoori Kitchen is San Francisco's premier Indian and Pakistani restaurant. Here at Mela, we offer the most exquisite assortment of Indian and Pakistani dishes in the Bay Area. With an extensive menu, serving only Halal and Zabihah meats, a brilliantly designed decor with a beautiful ambiance and silk sarees, candles and wall tapestries, we have more to offer than just great food and a cool vibe. We have perfected the most memorable experience in Indian and Pakistani dining! For starters, may we recommend some spicy tandoori wings, or perhaps the milder chicken or vegetable samosas? Better yet, how about the tandoori paneer, a vegetarian delight? The menu is filled with selections to please each individual taste bud and the seasoned veteran of Indian/Pakistani dining.
