Left the bar after 130 am and was looking for a place to get a bite to eat. Fortunately, Grubstake was nearby. Tiny place but the food was pretty good and was served quickly.

It's an attractive restaurant because of its quirky design. Food was perfectly OK but nothing to excite. I might have been put off by the language coming from a group of four at the bar. Worth a visit - but probably only one.

Was a little apprehensive after having read most of the reviews for this eatery. However this is good place to have a meal in rather pleasant surroundings, especially after an 11 hour flight. Our first time in San Francisco (August 11 & 12) and had...More

Okay. We had high expectations. We took a $40 uber over to get the food and the experience. The burgers were fair. Not amazing by any means. The fries are again... ok. The service. Not bad. Not good. But strange. Under the influence maybe? We...More

Made a special trip over to the Grubstake expecting a killer burger (look at the picture) and according to some reviews. Unfortunately, what we got was an average burger and average service. The place is so unique, an old cable car converted into a diner....More

the concierge in the hotel I was using suggested I go to the Grubstake to get a cheeseburger. The restaurant has a lot of ambiance and the food was okay. However, like everything in SF, it is not cheap!! The Grubstake is open until 4AM...More

The main positive about this venue is that it stays open late. The food was decent but nothing startling. Had a nice pumpkin pie for desert as the waitress claimed they were famous for it.

Grubstake is mainly awesome because it stays open until late, unlike most places in SF. Other pluses include the original style of the restaurant as a cable car replica, and the interesting people you get to see dining in the middle of the night. The...More

Went here for a couple reasons. 1- it was close to the hotel and we were exhausted from being on the road all day. 2- it was listed on the Diners, drive-ins, and dives list as a good place to eat in San Francisco. The...More

Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the
city and is home to amazing architecture and views.
The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for
those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be
rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful
architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated
with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all
were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that

A dinner & late-night legend of the Polk Gulch area in San Francisco, CA. Grubstake (in it's many forms) has a tenancy that can be traced back to 1919 & there's no end to the classic breakfast, burgers & stacks being served up daily.
