Food was average but prices were also average. Very crowded because the restaurant claims to be one of the original Fisherman's Wharf restaurants. Maitre'd sat us at the toilet, which we're usually okay with but it smelled quite bad. The table did not have any place settings. Service was well below average, even for a crowded restaurant.

While I am glad you enjoyed the food overall, I wish it was the same story for service. I know we can be fairly busy being on the Wharf and all, but you should always expect attentive service from us. Likewise, if your seat truly bothered you, I know we would have looked into moving you somewhere else if you... More

The restaurant itself is unassuming - almost like a classic dinner or small-town restaurant. Basic booths and a bar along one wall. I went in alone on a Wed night about 6PM, and it wasn't too crowded and had a number of locals eating or at the bar. The atmosphere and the meal are more like basic fresh family cooking,... More

Hey, I'm just glad you felt right at home with the locals on Wednesday! Sounds like the clam chowder and crab cakes were exactly what you were looking for, Scohn, so I'm thrilled to hear it. Thanks for stopping by while visiting the city -- I hope the rest of your trip went well. All the best, Tom More

This eatery offers Soups,Salads, Fresh Grilled & Broiled fish, a variety of the freshest Shellfish, Pasta, Steak & Chicken, Sour Dough sandwiches for walk up bites and all to die for. Great service with a smile and the portion sizes are substantial. A must visit for lunch or dinner.

Food was too greasy with no taste. With all the good reviews I was expecting better. The points given are only for the service otherwise I'd have to give 0 points. Very disappointing.

Belive me, Ama, I'm just as disappointed. Like you've probably saw with the many reviews here, you should expect our food to be fresh and properly prepared. The fact yours was "greasy" doesn't sit well with me -- that's the last thing you should expect from us. While service was good, I wish we could have left a better impression... More

Portion sizes are huge and the food is fresh. I had the red snapper broiled and they killed it, it was so good. May this a stop on your trip if you want great seafood

I don't typically write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so on this restaurant. The atmosphere is definitely lacking. The clam chowder was good and the garlic sauce on my seafood was yummy. However my dish was almost impossible to eat and extremely messy

I'm sorry your experience compelled you to write this. We've been around since 1927, so our establishment is a bit older. I am disappointed, however, about your meal. While I'm certainly glad it tasted good, it seems like we still failed to impress. Still, I do appreciate that you stopped by -- hope the rest of your visit to the... More

I have been coming to S&L for many many years and this review is overdue. I love their food, their drinks and their friendliness. I am always welcomed and I feel like family every time I go. Their seafood is the freshest and really delicious. I will continue to come to this restaurant as many times as I can. 😍

The interior wasn't anything special but you're right in the middle of the action at the Wharf and the food and bar were great! We just sat at the bar where the bar tender was great and friendly. We had chowder, caesar salad, shrimp cocktail and a crab panini between the two of us. It was all yummy. Next time... More
