THE ADMIRAL IN ASHEVILLE. It's taken me a while to get there, obviously, but now I see what so many good folks have been talking about. From the outside, this small spot in West Asheville isn't much on the eyes. But inside it is warm and cozy and the folks are cordial.. And the food is superb! Reservations are hard... More

This place is what all the Asheville food scene should strive for. Great service, great drinks and hands down the best food in Buncombe. Bravo!

If you can only chose one restaurant to enjoy in Asheville, this is the one!!Although housed in a cinder block building with challenging parking, don't be daunted by these external nothings. Inside, a lovely, somewhat romantic atmosphere awaits you. Best of all, the food is fabulous! The menu is interesting but easily understood. The wine list is excellent and the... More

I would never have chosen this restaurant from the appearance of the outside of the building. But everything our party of 4 ordered was fantastic. The tapas dishes are super delicious and just the right size without being over filling. The bar has an excellent beers on tap and my wife's Negroni was the best one she's ever had. We're... More

My favorite restaurant in Asheville, maybe anywhere. I never miss a trip to the Admiral when I am in town. I used to visit weekly when I lived in Asheville and was always very satisfied. Like everyone says "Best Dive Bar cuisine anywhere" Relax and enjoy the quirkiness.

The restaurant's unpretentious locale doesn't reflect the quality of the dishes being served. I love sampling the ecclectic assortment of small plates with a variety of exotic meats. Everything I have sampled was absolutely delicious. Reservations are usually required for a table but, you can just show up and eat at the bar.

After multiple failed attempts to make a reservation we just stumbled in and scored seats at the bar. Servers and staff are super attentive, friendly and helpful. Shared small plates are the way to go to avoid FOMO but we will have to go back to try all of the other intriguing options. Highlights of our meal were the grilled... More

Such great food! Service was great as well. We enjoyed the arugula salad, the crab cake, the fried Louisiana oysters and the **braised short ribs with pimento mac & cheese** <--- I would order 3 of these if I was able to return! If we ever have time when we are in town, we will definitely be returning!

The Admiral has one of the most interesting and dynamic menus I have sampled in a long time. From the outside, the place looks like a run-down biker bar. But put first impressions aside and walk in to what will be one of the most enjoyable meals you will have. We had the steamed pork buns, the seared scallops, the... More
