I chose Gennaro's for a picture I saw online of a woman sitting at a cozy little table by a bowed window. I was looking for cozy, romantic for a Saturday night dinner. The building itself is cozy and romantic, but the atmosphere changes a bit when a party of 10 is seated nearby. The food was very good, especially... More

We have been going to the North End for years, and tend to go to our favorites. Wanting to try some place different, we thought Gennaro's looked cute, and had a light lunch menu. The atmosphere was quaint and cozy, our waiter Zach extremely pleasant and efficient, and the food was delicious! The Chicken Veggie Soup was out of this... More

We arrived early as we had been walking around touring and it had gotten dark and was rainy and we had seen Gennaro's down the little side street and it looked cozy and welcoming so we found it and decided to go back. Honest, we could have just stopped at bread and the extra virgin olive oil (with fresh garlic... More

Well, based on the recent reviews we hoped for a fine meal with out of town guests. Not so good! the ossobucco was inedible as it was undercooked. Had to be sent back. The chicken parm was tough and the sauce was straight out of the bottle. I had a pasta dish that was just ok. On the other hand... More

The best thing about this place is they were able to seat us right away as it was raining. We were waiting in a really long line at one of the popular restaurants up the street, but the rain and the wait was too much for people in our group. We should have endured the rain and the wait. There... More

Walking along the Freedom Trail on North St, we came to this corner restaurant in a lovely old building with a view of the Square. We read the menu and peeked in the windows. They were serving Sunday brunch and it looked so nice, we went inside. The host seated us in the corner table looking out on both Prince... More

We stopped in for lunch one day and pick a good spot. The sandwich was good and the beer was cold so how can you go wrong.

The best Italian meal that I've ever had. They even have gluten free options that taste amazing. Well worth a trip just to eat there.

Walked passed at lunchtime on freedom trail & all looked well for eve visit . Checked it out on TripAdvisor & looked ok . Very disappointing .... mushroom starter mostly breadcrumbs , calamari ok . Both had risotto & no taste . Lumps of sausage & that's it ! Would not recommend or return . Service was excellent.

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
