My wife and I joined 14 other people to enjoy a dinner recently at Towne Stove and Spirits. Even though it was a Friday night and we were a party of 16, they had no problem accommodating our group for a 7:00 p.m. seating. The wait staff were very attentive but the service took a while, likely due to the... More

We had our Valentines dinner at Towne. The lobster popover was absolutely delicious. The lobster was very flavorful and not over cooked-- almost melted in my mouth. It's worth going to have the popover. Otherwise, the service was extremely slow and inattentive. I sat for 30 minutes after being seated before the wait staff asked for a drink order. Our... More

Just happened to walk in and had a delicious brunch. Service, by Francesco, was beat by none. He noticed something wrong with our eggs before we did and rushed over to. Have it fixed. French dip was very good and the ciabatta toast was great. We will be back

A large group of 50 year old college friends celebrating one last birthday is a tough group, but our waitress was extraordinary. The lobster popovers were the most memorable but everything was superb. Wish we had stayed here for dessert and more drinks rather than moving to our next destination!

My husband and I had dinner here for the first time with another couple last night. We were staying the night at Sheraton Boston and wanted a nice dinner within walking distance to the hotel. It was about a 5 minute walk. We had made a 7:45 reservation but when we arrived they were jammed. We waited about 20 minutes... More

We stopped by for cocktails before dinner and is was definitely perfect. It was a quiet crowd for a Saturday night (before 7:30), and we were able to just grab seats at the bar and enjoy. I didn't try any of the food while I was there, but everything certainly caught my eye as the staff brought it out to... More

A group of five women, with no reservations on a Saturday night, and unable to get into a number of other restaurants without a long wake. We were on Boylston St. and decided to give Towne Stove and Spirits a try, on the off chance they could seat us. I am so glad we did. At 5pm, the restaurant was... More

If you don't mind splurging it's worth it for a high-end dinner with friends. The atmosphere was warm, comfortable and had a great quality. Very cool ceilings! The service was spot on. Andrew our waiter, (who looks exactly like James MacAvoy) was incredible and friendly. The bourbon cocktails were creative and delicious. The food was top notch. What can I... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
