My husband and I had dinner here for the first time with another couple last night. We were staying the night at Sheraton Boston and wanted a nice dinner within walking distance to the hotel. It was about a 5 minute walk. We had made a 7:45 reservation but when we arrived they were jammed. We waited about 20 minutes... More

We stopped by for cocktails before dinner and is was definitely perfect. It was a quiet crowd for a Saturday night (before 7:30), and we were able to just grab seats at the bar and enjoy. I didn't try any of the food while I was there, but everything certainly caught my eye as the staff brought it out to... More

A group of five women, with no reservations on a Saturday night, and unable to get into a number of other restaurants without a long wake. We were on Boylston St. and decided to give Towne Stove and Spirits a try, on the off chance they could seat us. I am so glad we did. At 5pm, the restaurant was... More

If you don't mind splurging it's worth it for a high-end dinner with friends. The atmosphere was warm, comfortable and had a great quality. Very cool ceilings! The service was spot on. Andrew our waiter, (who looks exactly like James MacAvoy) was incredible and friendly. The bourbon cocktails were creative and delicious. The food was top notch. What can I... More

We walked in for lunch and got one of the last free tables. However we had to wait more than 60 mins for lunch, despite asking many times. The service was average and the staff very stressed. Definitely not worth to come again.

Good food, noisy atmosphere, hard to have conversation. We had everything from clam chowder to iceberg wedge to burgers , oysters , & chicken. Service was good.

Visited on a quiet evening and received excellent service. We appreciated that there was no sense of being hurried and we finished our 3 course meal in about 1 1/2 hours. I started with the pear salad which was light on pear, but overall fresh and tasty. The lamb shanks were perfect, though it was difficult to detect mint in... More

Stopped here for a business cocktail hour. Place looks nice and a great place for a nice dinner and drinks. Place seems quite where you can have drinks and chat with colleagues and friends. The finger foods served were delicious. Wish to go back for dinner sometime.

I never understand why Towne doesn't rate higher in the panoply of Boston restaurants. Originally a Lydia Shire venture, she still consults on menus but Chef Figueroa is in charge of the kitchen and a marvelous job he does, indeed. For $38 for three courses during Dine Out Boston last night I had a superb version of a classic Caprese... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
