We went to Mama Maria's for the first time in December and have already returned. The dining rooms are small and beautifully decorated. Our waiter, Joshua, remembered us from our first visit and once again gave us excellent recommendations on what to order. The valet parking is great especially on a very cold night after a snowstorm. If you are... More

This is a charming little restaurant in the old North End of Boston located in a row house. The food is very authentic Italian and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. A great place for a family dinner, which this was (four of us), and we sat in a dining room on the first floor. The room had about half... More

What a great experience for our first trip to Boston! A group of five of us visited Boston for my boyfriends 30th birthday-It was no question I wanted to go somewhere nice for dinner to celebrate. (We also had another birthday at the table as well) I searched around a lot before reserving a table for us at Mama Maria... More

First let me say that my husband and I were in Italy (Tuscany) 1 year prior to being at this restaurant. Very authentic, high quality Italian food. The atmosphere is lovely and the service was excellent! In true Italian fashion, we were allowed to stuff our faces, I mean eat, without much interruption. It truly was a memorable meal and... More

The reputation is for great food, and indeed our dinner was very good. We had a glass of wine, a salad and an entrée. The problem is that we were out the door in less than an hour. It was the last seating and nobody was waiting for a table. By the time we realized what was happening, it was... More

I had the pleasure of planning a corporate holiday dinner at Mamma Maria and have nothing but high praise. From the beginning of the planning process, Jennifer was extremely responsive and very patient as I worked through some of the details in the days leading up to our dinner. We had the Rossini room, which was decorated beautifully for the... More

This restaurant is not your average North End Italian Restaurant. If you are looking for a huge platter of pasta and chicken parmesan this is not the place for you. If you are looking for amazing food in a beautiful atmosphere then this is your diamond in the rough. We were there with a party of five and everyone enjoyed... More

Made OpenTable reservations we arrived a bit early and greeted by a host who seemed in a rush, although restaurant was not crowded at all, it was only 5:30. Our waiter was attentive but I noticed it took a while for us to get our bread and pesto (no olives for us). Our wine came and so did my squash... More

Difficult reservation to secure but well worth the effort. Date and I both had fantastic meals, surprisingly moderately priced. The host and hostess adhere to timely reservations so no need to arrive early. Waiting area is cramped and we were not offered to wait in the lounge or bar, if there is one. Seated upstairs with street view that was... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
