I have been there twice for lunch. Great burgers, good crowd but not overwhelming. Great downtown location for a quick bite or a few drinks.

I met my client here on a Friday. They do take lunch reservations; however, they'll only seat you once all members of your party have arrived, and according to the woman who took my reservation, they'll only hold the table for five minutes. This was not a problem for me, as my party arrived on time. I had an 11:45... More

I'm still rating this a 4, as the food was good and the service would have been fine if they were fully staffed. It was lunch time and obviously they had one to two less servers than they should have had. I got the tacos and waited 50 minutes to get them and ended up having to take them to... More

I will preface this by addressing the main complaint about this restaurant. If you're in a big hurry, don't go here. If you've got some time to relax and enjoy a couple drinks, and maybe grab a bite to eat, you're not gonna be disappointed. My co-worker and I both got the Slate burger. They were cooked perfectly to order.... More

Don't go here if you have a lunch or dinner with anyone important to you professionally. The service is not very reliable so there is a chance you or your guest will be unhappy with the experience. If you have achieved any level of success professionally, you have probably graduated from experiencing this poor level of service. Slate is not... More

Service was slow and not very friendly! The food sucked. I had clam chowder and it was the worst chowder I've ever had. It was warm at best with overcooked clams. It had the consistency of gravy with virtually no taste. I also had a BLT, it had maybe 2 pieces of bacon. The bread was way to thick. It's... More

Good choice of beers and ales, some seasonal. Food was surprisingly good - fresh ingredients and very tasty. Service was excellent. Can't ask for more!

Slate was a salad place for appetizers. We ordered a nice selection of their flat breads and they were above average. We also had some chicken fingers and they were a notch below average. The wine list was a bit lacking but serviceable. I'd definitely but return but I think they can step it up a bit.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
