Website says 1 Charles Street but should really say "located on Common near bandstand" or something like this to make location clearer. Caprese sandwich good but salad with chicken, blueberries, strawberries and almonds disappointing. A few small slices of strawberries, few blueberries and limp greens. Might go back for a sandwich but no salad. Man who took order very friendly.

Came here with some friends for lunch and we were not disappointed! Delicious sandwiches (we recommend their 1762) and nice to sit outside under some umbrellas. Great place to refuel and take a break!

This place is in the prefect location, right in the middle of the commons. Visited here when Shakespeare in the Park was on so it was busy, but still managed to grab a quick sandwich and a drink. Nice seating outside.

I visited this place on June 8th 2015. We were in the Boston Commons and looking for somewhere to eat. There aren't very many places close by that are quick and on the cheaper side, so we chose Earl of Sandwich. The place is pretty much just an upscale fastfood sandwich shop. We got our food pretty quickly and dug... More

Situated in Boston common- an old bandstand. We got a breakfast sandwich each for $10 dollars! It hit the spot and we were able to sit on the patio and take in Boston Common while we ate. If you are in a rush then maybe not for you as our order took 10 mins to prepare but at least you... More

The food here was pretty good - I particularly liked my chicken berry salad (chicken, strawberry, blueberry and almond) - but the service was pretty poor. It took three attempts to get my order and the price right. I'm English so it can't even be a language barrier problem. The prices are very reasonable compared to other options in the... More

I seem to end up here for a quick lunch every time I'm in Boston. The location in Boston Common is great for people watching, and the sandwiches have always been very tasty. The staff don't seem all that happy to be working there, but luckily your interaction with them will be minimal, so it really doesn't impact my decision... More

Prefect place to pick up a quick lunch and people watch. Food is good and there is seating right in the Common.

This a cute kiosk out on the Boston Common (which used to be a public restroom), situated perfectly for tourist foot traffic. They have a pretty extensive menu for a fast food place with some interesting combinations (what? no meatball option for a hot sandwich shop in Boston?) and the quality of the fillings was good, but the bread they... Awesome location in the Boston Common. A sandwich (about 6") & a salad will set you back about $13. While both the veggie sandwich & the Greek salad (no chicken as I'm vegetarian) were very tasty & worth 4 stars, I had to deduct a star for a couple things. 1) Requested several times to hold chicken + extra olives,... Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
