My adult son and I were on a weekend trip to Boston and went to the Black Rose on 1/13 and had a great meal. I had the Guinness beef stew and it was so good we ended up there Saturday 1/14 for a repeat. The anniversary burger was great as well. Would love to see an expanded beer selection,... More

Dropped in for some drinks on a cold winters day and stayed for hours. Warm, friendly, bar tender was charismatic and friendly. Good Guinness and even came back the next day for breakfast, seriously best breakfast in Boston! Good live bands play too!

Took a little trip to Boston with some of my travel buddies. Stopped off at the Black Rose first to warm up at lunch then came back for drinks and dancing that night. Spent 3-4 hours on a Saturday night in December keeping warm, dancing to a great Irish band, and drinking lots of yummy Jameson Irish Whiskey. This bar... More

We had not been here for over a decade but memories of good Irish food always linger. Guinness is always a good start. The Salmon BLT was good but the Reuben sandwich not so good. Dry, toasted bread with meat and not much sauercraut. But since I don't know how to spell it I can't claim to be an expert.... More

Were attracted to this Irish Pub because while in Boston, well you have to go to an Irish Pub, right? Black rose was close to Faneuil Hall Market Place in the area we were staying. We were attracted to the idea of having an Irish supper while listening to an Irish band. Well the music didn't start until about 10,... More

Stopped in for a pint of Guinness, to my surprise they charged $8 for one pint of Guinness. Really guys??? Not even NYC charges these outrageous prices. Are you trying to gauge tourists?!?!

Never fail to visit the Black Rose when in Boston. The place is crazy noisy, but the meal is great. Go for the Chowder and Fish and Chips.

Great Irish pub to visit and enjoys some lagers. Good use of space with the upstairs room. Nice staff and bartenders.

This is a really nice pub that really gives you the Irish Pub feeling. Great place for a burger and a beer! My friend took the Salmon Sandwich which was really great. We went there for a lunch, can imagine it being awesome in the evening though. Good service.

Went during the day and at night. During the day had chicken pot pie which was extremely good - with fast service. Irish music at night. East central dining, standing by bar at back of room.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
