Really really loved the Wine Vault. I had always wanted to go check out one of their themed dinners and so glad I finally did! First of all, letting someone take ALL the guesswork out of a special night is WONDERFUL. No ordering, no agreeing on which bottle of wine to buy and no decisions. We went for the Valentines... Tucked away in Mission Hills. Unique dining experience with well-paired wines. $45 for a 3 choice, 3 course menu. Wine pairing is optional and yet affordable ($15!) and delicious. I opted for a ancho-rubbed skirt steak with chimmichurri sauce. Dessert was blue cheese, sweetish artisan bread and chili-infused fruit. Also had other more traditional sweets were available but I usually... More

Had an outstanding 5 course chef's tasting menu offering. The steak course was exceptionally fabulous! The wine pairing included some I had never heard of, and it was exciting to discover the new varieties. There are some stairs getting into and out of this quaint restaurant, so those with mobility issues will want to call ahead and inquire re: accommodations... More

We enjoyed visiting Stolpman winery in the Santa Barbara area and when we were notified about a wine dinner in the San Diego area, we decided to give it a try. We have attended many wine dinners over the years, but having never been here before, we were not sure what to expect. The five courses were delicious - particularly... More

Booked this restaurant after reading about it on Eater San Diego, the welcome we received from the owners Chris and Mary was fantastic. Mary is a very calm and unassuming person who makes you feel completely at ease and because we had travelled from Ireland gave us two complimentary drinks to begin with. Food was full of flavours and wine... More

We dine here almost once a month. It's a prefix meal. You have to have a reservation. The menus will be a 3 course to a 5 course typically. We've even had a 10 course. The setting is a cute house in little Italy and very romantic. Mary and Chris are the owners and are fabulous hosts. Greg the chef... More

I was invited to join my friends for a five-course dinner with matching wines, all for about $80 per person, including tax and tip. What a deal. The food was marvelous. Unusual flavors complimented nicely be each paired wine. Two hours of delightful dining with verbal descriptions of each course before it was served. This place offers different dinners on... More

We go here fairly regularly for the Thursday-Saturday menus, but the WineMaker dinners are really special. The restaurant holds these on Sunday nites usually, and if there is reason they will do second ones on Monday nites. These are special menus paired with the featured wines and there are usually 6 or 7 courses. The Executive Chef is brilliant and... More

This was my second meal at the Wine Vault and Bistro (on 2 April 2016), and it was great again! The service was excellent, hostess and waitress very friendly, quality of the food was excellent, and the wine-pairing worked for me! We were a group of eight. I definitely recommend the Wine Vault and Bistro in San Diego!

Wine vault and bistro Third floor of a gray house in a cool area off of India avenue. Relaxed, casual, welcoming atmosphere. The entire front of house was warming, informed and wonderful. Selected the 3 course tasting menu/ prix fixe with wine pairing. So glad that I did... Bright, crispy sweet tart Brussels sprouts in a zesty garlic chili sauce.... More
