Stopped in for lunch with my wife and daughter. It was pretty warm so we chose to sit outside. Service was quick and attentive and the pasta just might have been the best I've ever tasted. My wife had gnocchi with black squid ink, my daughter had pappardelle with shrimp and I had crab ravioli. All were fantastic. It was... More

This restaurant claims to have the best pasta in SoCal, but I was not impressed. We had reservations on NYE, I requested a booth and was told they had none in the building, only to be seated next to a couple at a booth, hmmmmm. We ordered fried gnocchi, but it never arrived, however, the table next to us received... More

First of all; you can never get into Bencotto's sparse dining room without a reservation, so don't fight the local parking maze without knowing you'll have a table. It's really all about the sumptuous, freshly prepared foods that were wonderfully prepared and savory. The meal started with a basket of semolina flour bread that is an indication of good things... My husband and I sat at the bar and shared a dinner. We started with the beef stuffed green olives which were unique and wonderful...kinda like a mini-pizza. Our main dish was butternut squash ravioli which was BEYOND good!!! Like...I'll be dreaming about it. We finished with an amazing pistachio dessert. So, so, so good. And good service, especially for... More

We went for dinner. It is within walking distance of the Gas Lamp area of San Diego, which is great because we chose a lot of things from the menu and decided not to think about calories. Great to burn off a few calories walking to our hotel. It is not a fancy restaurant. There is seating on two floors.... More

We only had about an hour to eat as we were on our way to the airport. They provided excellent and fast service! The menu is full of wonderful choices and the waiters know the food well. They suggest not only food that would be quick to serve but very good. The restaurateur was fully packed, but the food came... More

This is a very nice Italian restaurant in the Little Italy area in San Diego. The staff is very service minded and attentive, the ambiance is nice and the food is great. I can recommend the Lasagna, it is delicious!

We went based on reviews and were not disappointed. The menu is so interesting including things like delicious homemade pasta with any sauce you want, fried an stuffed olives, TORTINO AL TARTUFO (black truffle, ricotta and parmesan cheese souffle’, porcini mushroom creamy sauce) – everyone’s favorite!, crab filled ravioli, BRASATO DI MANZO CON POLENTA (prime beef braised in red wine... Our group of 6 had an amazing meal. The homemade pasta here is off the charts, fresh, tasty, interesting flavors. Our wine pairings were just right. Here is the best part, accidental spill of plate clearing onto my blazer. Nick Pund, the assistant manager jumped into action- he offered to take my blazer, clean it and return to me (hotel... More
