This is an iconic piece of San Diego. Phil's BBQ has great food, a relaxed atmosphere and is family friendly. They have indoor and outdoor tables and the prices are very reasonable. Important tip: The line for this place gets LONG during the regular dinner hours so be prepared or come early.

Myself and my friend went here for dinner and there was a bit of a queue when we got there. Waited for around 15mins and I must say, it was worth it!! probably one of the best ribs I've had! Will definitely go back when i visit america again.

I love Phil's BBQ! But my advice is don't come on rush hours coz most likely you will end up dead hungry for long line and you must have a long patienceeee for waiting, but at any rate once u got your food expect it you will have a clean plate love the onion rings too!!!

Okay, so at 5:00 on a Tuesday night I really didn't have to wait (I got in the wrong line - on Arena Blvd, the left line is to go, the right line is eat in!!), but there was a line out the door by the time I left. Interesting that the only official combos are ribs and chicken. Life... More

Okay, so we've been going to Phil's since they were in Hillcrest. Even waiting out their closure there until they could reopen in the same spot. We were living in Chicago and called monthly to check on their progress. Well, no worries because now we have several locations from which to choose. Great sauce, tender meat and flavorful fries. Great... More

I was told by my hotel receptionist that this was the place to go in town. We arrived around 4:30 in the afternoon. It was already getting busy but no wait. I found the BBQ sauce sparce and too much vinegar for my taste. The chicken I had was very dry to the point you couldn't eat it. We added... More

Recommended by motel personnel as best restaurant in San Diego. They were right!!!! If we hasn't been told it was great, we would have known by long waiting line. Very reasonable prices and very large portions. GREAT service and very friendly associates. Eat there two nights in a row. Ribs are to die for.

Not the best atmosphere (semi fast food) or prices, BUT we come for the food (and so do lots of others so you might have to wait in line). Good menu choices and excellent barbeque

For the past 17 years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. "We thrive on providing each guest with the 'Phil's Experience', which basically comes down to organized chaos," laughs owner Phil Pace. "The biggest reason behind our success is our loyal customers who have supported us and waited in line for a taste of BBQ for the past fifteen years. "Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds of BBQ sauce (enough to fill Shamu's tank).
