Had an evening on my own one night while visiting NYC, and wandered into Vai. Sat at the bar and found the atmosphere friendly to loners, with a charming barmaid. Seviche was perfect, wine was excellent, and the piece de resistance was the miniature dish of zabaione that came out of the kitchen on the house after my meal. Any... More

If you want to feel rushed and buried. If you want to feel that you are reading dinner and racing a stop watch this is your place. Management had one goal and that is to get you out fat. Would not rush to this restaurant for VA plant leisurely meal

This was our second visit to Vai in the past year. Our first visit was disappointing, but a friend insisted we try it again. We arrived early for dinner and the restaurant was empty. We asked for a seat away from the door and we're told that they were reserved. I mentioned that we also made reservations and that since... More

This is my second time in a week. Sunday I had the Boston salad with blue cheese dressing and the burrata appetizer. Fantastic. And they brought me a lovely pot de creme as a lagniappe. Today I only had room for a salad and ordered the arugula/pear/speck salad. Might be the best salad I have ever had. Amazing. I can't... More

Loved Vai. The food was interesting and delicious. And a great value. The bill, including wine and a wonderful dessert they gave us, was $50 a person. This is for a lot of food!

Been to vai four times now and our daughter had her wedding reception there. The food is excellent as is the service. We had 50 to the reception and everything was perfect could not have been better. Vince & his team are amazing, this is a real gem of a place.

For a high-priced New York Medi Restaurant, I'd expect more. The service was meh. The food was all right, but the nouveau cuisine was lacking in the nouveau department. Yellowtail Hamachi is not exactly 'of the moment.' Cramped tables and an ill-humored maitre'd added to the fail. Might I recommend Vino e Taralucci on Columbus and 83rd instead?

We had a tough time making reservations, but it was certainly worth the effort. When we arrived, the place was crazy busy, but while we waited, we were treated to a glass of wine by the chef/owner. He was extremely gracious and talked as much as he could while managing the whole place. The food was wonderful and again, the... More
