My favorite spicy rolls! No mayo, just spicy yumminess. They add a bunch of extra chopped spicy fish on top of the roll. I get the spicy scallop and the spicy tuna. DELISH! Everything else is great too.

My good friend and I frequently go to cho cho San for their delicious spicy tuna rolls and sake specials! The spicy tuna roll comes with spicy tuna on top! Was a great surprise on our first visit and keeps us coming back!

The sushi was rather bland and not tasty at all. We had 4 different rolls and none were impressive. Quality of tuna was good. Atmosphere not very updated. Just ok.

Cho Cho San is one of our favorite restaurants in NYC. The food is consistently very good, fresh and carefully prepared. The atmosphere is low key and quiet, perfect for conversation and lingering with friends. The menu is traditional but varied with several specials. They also have a vegetarian dinner box which is a real treat. We love the black... More

This Eighth Street neighborhood Japanese restaurant enjoys a location where it should offer much more than an "average" dining experience. Friendly, welcoming and gracious not unlike one would expect in Tokyo, I had no issues with the staff and service. But with the $25.00 Shushi and Shashimi combo plate, unfortunately there were issues. The Shashimi slices seemed overly thinly sliced... More

Cho Cho San is truly one of the best sushi restaurants in the Village. The food is always spot on and the service is friendly & helpful. Try the sushi platter for 2-3 as it easily feeds four leaving little room for anything else.

This restaurant has consistently provided the highest quality of food and service over the last number of years and is our go to place for sushi! The unlimited saki is also a great attraction and the servers are friendly and knowledgable about the menu etc.

The setting is nice and the spaces within the tables are not to small. The menu offers quite a variety of choices also for vegetarians. The food is fresh and of quality. The service is quick.

We have dined at Cho Cho San many times and are always thrilled. We have tried several items on the large menu and have never been disappointed. The sushi is very good, very fresh and nicely done. I usually get sushi but my husband, who is vegetarian, absolutely loves the garden dinner box which has a nice selection of different... More

I have eaten many times at Cho Cho San and never been disappointed. The sushi is just incredible fresh and perfectly presented. Salads are generous with more varaition than the usual greens in japanese restaurants. The hot dishes are also good, according to what friends say; I always have sushi. It is one of the restaurant that is not too... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
