We're visiting from UK and wanted somewhere quick and easy for dinner. This ticked the boxes. A tiny place, best for takeout really, but the 3 of us squeezed around a small table. The pasta was tasty and made with a proper cheese sauce, not the orange gloop. Portion sizes were great - small was ideal for our child -... More

Space is EXTREMELY limited even for NYC standards. Waited for over 30 minutes for our order (1 med mac lobsta & 1 med cheeseburger mac). Majority of the time was spent standing as there was nowhere to sit. Took the food to go, it stayed hot all the way back to Chelsea, and it was delicious. Next time I'll order... More

I was watching the travel channel in my hotel room and there was a review of restaurants serving cheese items. As my business was taking me in the same district the day after, I decided to try the Macbar. It was a cold day and I needed comfort food. I went there around 2:30PM and while there was a constant... I love a good mac & cheese and have been to some of the other mac joints around NYC, and was excited to try this one. First, I found the portion sizes to be pretty small compared to the price. The food was good, but not amazing. Dissapointed.

The most disrespectful place ever! I waited almost 1 hour for a simple mac & cheese. I would never recommend this place.

This restaurant has taken the mac&cheese to new level. We saw the restaurant in a tv show and decide to go and taste it. the Mac&cheese with lobster was delicious so was the one with cheeseburger and the carbonara. The space is small but they do take outs and delivery.

The Mac and Cheese (Lobster) is awesome and the stuff very friendly. I sat at the bar and although the restaurant was full, the waiting time was very short. The stuff is very attentive. The prices are fair compared to other locations in New York. I can definetely recommand this restaurant.

My boyfriend and I made it a point to visit Mac Bar, because his sister raved about it to us. Personally, Mac and Cheese is my all time favorite food and Mac Bar definitely did not disappoint. There aren't a whole lot of options, but there are enough for meat eaters, pescatarians, and vegetarians to be able to find something... More

Saw this restaurant on the Travel Channel several years ago and put it on my "must eat" list for when I was NYC. Found it with no problems, and it was so delicious! My only complaint is they didn't list onions in the description of the mac stroganoff, and there were chives all throughout and on top. My Mom has... More

Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
