This tiny, cozy restaurant is near the theater district, which means that I recommend a reservation if you want to eat before curtain time. The service was outstanding, the food was perfect, and the sake selection was excellent. What can I say? I'll be back...

We stopped by Danji after seeing an eight o'clock show. They were still open (it was 11:30) and welcomed us in. The food was amazing! We weren't terribly hungry, so we ordered off the small section of the menu. Definitely appetizer portions, but they were the perfect size for us. They did close the kitchen at 12, but the staff... Excellent food, good service, charming place. This is a perfect place for tapas, but you must love to discover new types of food.

Came here for a pre theatre dinner. Huge hit. Excellent flavors, spot on service. Favorites were the bulgogi sliders, the yellowtail and the bansan (probably misspelled) which is three small dishes (spicy squid, bean sprouts and spinach) as a side. Would go back without hesitation.

Meals are ordered by the size of the plate, small plate which is an appetizer size, medium plate for a single meal, or large plate for family size. We ordered the following: Sweet potato noodles with beef and vegetables which was spicy, very flavorful and beautiful. The Tofu with ginger scallion dressing was outstanding. Spicy kfc chicken wings, Honey garlic... More

Decided to try this restaurant following its good reviews and close proximity to the theatre district and was so glad I did! The portions are small (they literally are small plates) but they pack a mighty punch in flavour and authenticity. I had the pork sliders while my friend tried the sweet potato stir fry. Both left satisfied with our... More

Following a great review in Lonely Planet we sought out this gem of a restaurant for lunch. The food was great, as was the service. The decor was supercool and we would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something away from the typical NYC fare.

Danji is a bustling and compact gem close to the theater district. The service was warm and attentive, and the food was outstanding. The tofu was the best I've ever had, and the shrimp and scallion pancakes were great. We're looking forward to going back.

This review is strictly for Danji's lunch session - I did not manage to get to the dinner session. The lunch menu is kind of disappointing, a short list of maybe 7 to 8 appetizers, a shorter list of bi-bim baps and a cold noodle for entrees. Not much to choose from. The taco bulgogi was interestingly good, but the... More

If you're looking for a traditional Korean meal and simply don't appreciate fusion food don't eat at Danji as you will be disappointed. My wife I went after catching a Broadway show and simply put we enjoyed our dinner and drinks. It was a little cramped given it is a small space, but we felt the service was good and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
