What can I say, refined Portuguese cuisine . This place is small , cozy and friendly. It's a Portuguese restaurant with a New York flair and prices to go with it. What do you want it's NY. Parking can be a problem. I would say...More

We had a Groupon and they had a special menu, which we assume was restricted. The servings were ok, except for the steak, which looked to be close to half a portion. The waitstaff was nice, but they cleared the bread plate with bread still...More

We were a little disappointed with the food. I started with the sausage appetizer - it was like rubber, not good. My husband had the stone soup and it was good, not great but good. It was the best thing we had there all night....More

Food was tasty and well prepared, but not impressive in any way, What is impressive are their little pasteis de nata (Portuguese egg tarts) available for dessert or take out. The best we've had since a visit to Lisbon. Only wish they were BIGGER.

Bought a Groupon and made a reservation. My partner and I were seated at a cosy table (on the main floor) and had very friendly and attentive service. I had the Chourico Flambeado for the appetizers and the pork medallions for my entree. Both were...More

As a Portuguese-American I thought the food was great. I was disappointed in the portion size of my meal though. I also felt the sangria could have been stronger. We were a large party of 12 people and the staff was very accomodating. The bathroom...More

One of the few places in New York to experience good traditional food - and trust me - finding authentic Portuguese cousine is not easy but Alfama beats all expectations! Really delicious food, friendly staff, professional attitude! Loved it! Wish we didnt pay as much...More

I think the restaurant survives on Groupon. They even have a Groupon menu. You see a very pretty dining room that's empty upstairs, but everyone dining is seated in the basement that has all the charm of a high school cafeteria. The food is tasteless...More

ZAGAT is never wrong. But we did not really need their recommendation to realize that Alfama is, by far, the best Portuguese culinary ever. Starting with the owner Miguel and Tarcísio, hosting with enthusiasm, kindness great sense of humor. We could then move to the...More

Great little spot for brunch. We had a Groupon brunch deal, which made it very reasonably priced. My friend and I both had the french toast, which we were completely in love with. The bellinis and mimosas were very tasty as well, with good portion...More

Modern, mouth-watering Portuguese cooking in Midtown-East in an elegant, relaxing and convivial new space. Executive Chef Carlos Arriaga takes a fresh approach to the country's cuisine, with modern dishes rooted in Portuguese classics and also inspired by the country's many former colonies from Brazil to Goa to Southern Africa.
