We were in the City for an early evening event. We'd been wandering through Bryant Park, and the food stalls gave us an appetite, so we decided on an early dinner.
The location used to be another restaurant, one we used to frequent, so we...thought we'd try the new place.
First impressions were good - nice decor, welcoming atmosphere, that sort of thing. As an added bonus, we had arrived during happy hour, when certain wines, and all of the pizzas, were $10.
We chose to share an appetizer - Arrosticini Abruzzesi. - basically a lamb kebab. There were four very small kebabs in the serving, but it was enough for the two of us. Quite tasty.
For the entrée, my wife chose Branzino, which was OK, although the green beans had clearly been frozen; I went for a clam pizza (Clam Pie) which was $10, as advertised, rather than the usual $27. It was a standard 10" individual pizza. The price was right, but alas the pizza was not. It was basically tasteless - I squeezed a small amount of lemon on it, and the only discernable taste was lemon. Rather a shame - if you want to sell pizza in the City, be aware that you have some serious competition, even at $10.
The wines were perfectly acceptable.
Next time, we'll try the food stalls in Bryant Park.More
