We had a nice dinner at Amali. We were seated in the back room which was quiet but a little dark (could hardly see what was on my plate). We had labneh and sweet potatoes as appetizers and they were both very tasty. For the main course we tried different dishes: scallops, rabbit and salmon. Rabbit was delicious, but scallops... More

We went here for dinner on New Years eve. Tried to get in touch with them when we booked the table in september to ask if they had a special menu for New Year's (special prices) but they didn't answer us. One day before we got to know that they had a pre-fixed menu for New Years which was 90... More

Hosted my wife's 50th birthday party there. coordinated the wine with Frankie who ok'd selections from my cellar. They did a great job with the wine service - decanting the bottles and bringing new stemware with each wine. Had party of 10 people and ordered off the menu for the table. Everything was excellent.

My wife and I were in NYC visiting our son who lives and works in SoHo. He wanted us to meet his new friend who lives and works uptown, so we were going to meet in The Bar Room on a East 60th near her office when she got off work, which was very late, well after 10 pm. The... More

I am sorry that you felt the food was overpriced. We stay fairly vigilant in terms of comparing our prices to other restaurants in the neighborhood relative to style of service (e.g. white tablecloth) and the products we buy. Nevertheless, I realize that perception of price does have a subjective element to it. I cannot speak to the smell from... More

. Amani was great - nice staff, really great food ( start w the Salumi, def get the chicken and add the brussel sprouts). Relaxing atmosphere. A little loud but not terribly. Great wine pairings. As advertised, expensive, like 80 per, w just a couple glasses of wine and only one dessert. Highly recommend.

One more recommendation from Eater´s 38 essential restaurants in New York City. The place is divided in two rooms, the back room is distasteful, the floor is loathsome. The menu is tedious. Why the restaurants around Bloomingdales are middling? I ate the pink shrimp, it was good, the garlic and oil is a strong combination. The chicken was ok. I... More

We had a great time at Amali. Our foursome enjoyed terrific wine, Greek cuisine, and a lively atmosphere. Nestled in the sweet spot of New York department stores--equidistant from Bloomingdale's, Bergdorf's and Barney's--Amali's sustainable Mediterranean cuisine stands the test of the city's most discerning diners, all while hewing to the Mediterranean diet which their literature vows to maintain. While will... More

I have had "Chicken Under A Brick" ($29) at other restaurants and it was usually very flavorful and moist. At this restaurant it has a nice flavor but it is not moist, leaving me disappointed with it. The point of putting it under a brick is to accomplish something much different than the usual chicken dish, in my opinion, that... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
