This pastry shop tops a French patisserie! Not only do the pastries and cakes look amazing-elegant, they are absolutely scrumptious. Their prices are of another era. We were a party of two and left the shop with three large bags of assorted pastries and spent no more than $20!!! You can taste the goodness and freshness of every single ingredient... More

Awesome stuff you cant find most places, prices are good - they have these wonderful huge taro mochi and different steamed buns, like roast pork and red bean - they also have more western style sweets but I mainly go for the specialty stuff!

This bakery is part of a chain of bakeries which offers freshly baked pastries/ cakes/ buns and a variety of drinks for very good prices. Pop in for a quick bite and either you can carry out your eats/ drinks out or sit in . Very tasty and very good deal for the prices - do try them if you... More

I really love their bakeries. Great selection of breads and pastries. I really wish they had the baked roast pork buns, not just the steamed ones. Prices are very reasonable and the service is superb. The store is spacious and non gimicky. Just grab a tray, a pair of tongs and choose away.

Fay Da has a chain of bakery in both Chinatown and in Flushing. Their prices are not the cheapest, but the baking goods are better than most.

This place has an assortment of pastries, breads, and bubble drinks at an affordable price compared to other similar bakeries. This was my first time having a lychee smoothie bubble drink it was very tasty and not overly sweet. I ordered the passion fruit cake but it wasn't that tasty a little too dry. My daughters ordered a red velvet... More

I was navigating through Chinatown & walked past this bakery so I stopped for a roast pork bun & an egg tart. The egg tart was excellent (lovely short crust pastry) but the roast pork bun filling was just average - it was bright red (always off putting) with minimal flavour, so I was little disappointed and maybe I just... Their sponge cakes are the best around, so tasty and fresh. Love the green tea sponge cakes, almost all of their cakes are light and delicious. I don't like their cheesecake though; ha s a weird taste. Pineapple buns are made perfectly. Raisin bread is fab. kids love the melon bubble tea..always crowded and a bit disorganized but the quality... More

What started out as s quick snack turned into more food and hot cocoa very quickly as we saw the prices and service is quick. My kids decided to have something savory first, since it was mid day so they had hot dogs in a roll and ham with egg in a roll. Then they went back for pasties. Pick... More

There are many bakeries to choose from in Chinatown, but Fay Da bakery was a step above. Small and most importantly clean, the bakery/cafe offers some seating, but primarily does a takeout business. Prices are very reasonable, and baked goods are very good. Try the Japanese cheesecake, a very light version that is difficult to find. $1.95 for a good... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
