On a quicky overnight visit to Manhattan, staying at the Novotel Times Square, I didn't really feel like dealing with the breakfast buffet at the hotel & just wanted something simple. I found the reviews for Donna Bell's, was intrigued & hiked the couple blocks over from the hotel. I opted for an egg/cheese/sausage breakfast biscuit sandwich & a pastry... More

This is a really tiny shop and an equally tiny kitchen for baking. It's amazing anyone can move around back there, much less bake delicious treats. I tried two items: cheddar pimento biscuit and a strawberry scone with lemon glaze. The biscuit was a bit too spongy textured for my taste, perhaps better eaten straight out of the oven rather... Why Donna Bells? Fan of NCIS - got us in the door. What we found? Very small take-out only shop with rather glum counter person. What we chose? From the very tempting array of scones/biscuits/muffins, we opted for the Coffee Crumb Cake Muffin. The verdict? I was back in middle-school loving a Drakes Coffee Cake at lunch - my husband... Donna Belle's is one place we always stop at while in the city. I was so excited to hear that they were staying open later and would be baking more to insure they had adequate supplies in the evening. WOW...the assortment at 6 in the evening was great! Thanks for that...I used to have to settle for whatever items were... More

When Donna Bell's first opened right across the street from my apartment, I was overjoyed!! I ran in and was one of the first customers. They had not even connected their credit card machine yet! They continue to offer fresh baked goods that you have to get there early for. Their sandwiches are always lovely and they sell Cafe Du... More

I'm not joking, this bakery serves the BEST lemon bars I've ever had! They're a solid 1 1/2 inch thick and loaded with fresh lemons! We loved them so much that we bought a box full to bring back home to Florida with us! We also love the biscuits! They are HUGE! Basically, small mountains that are warm and freshly... More

Simply had to find this little gem (Have been watching Miss Abby Sciuto for many years) Was hoping to catch a glimpse but wasn't to be. Not disappointed however, the sandwhiches and muffins were delicious

If you are travelling to NYC you have to go to this bakery! Best breakfast sandwiches ever, and they cater for vegetarians which seems to be surprisingly difficult to find in the city unless you want a fruit bowl every day! Really great cinnamon scones as well and strooong coffee. We had breakfast 3 out of our 4 days there... More

I saw this little gem on a Food Network special about the best things people have ever eaten. It did not disappoint. The biscuit sandwiches were delicous! Word of caution, this place is barely big enough to turn around in, so don't plan on staying to eat here. We took ours back to the hotel across the street.

We stopped here because well you know, Abby, NCIS. A very tiny place loaded with delicious food. The blueberry scones were crazy good, and the cheddar biscuits were incredible. Have one as a breakfast sandwich for $5. Went 3 times in 2 days to just keep sampling (cupcakes good too). Will be buying the book with these recipes so I... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
