Reckless and inconsistent food quality. To save a min of cooking, dude threw my chicken stir fry in mesh in same boiling water as the rest of other meat (I dont eat pork). Food was tasteless and chicken was half cooked. I guess he didn't want to spend time cooking food. There are plenty of choices in midtown, I will... More

I ordered an omelette (which came with home fries and toast) which was very reasonable when it came to price. The omelette was sloppy and it wasn't the best omelette I've had in the city. The cooks took a while to acknowledge me so that I can order. They do have a lot of choices and the place is really... More

Essen is my backup/go-to lunch option when I need something quick or something specific. They have great coffee and I prefer it over DD or SB. You can get freshly made smoothies/juices, practically any type of breakfast/lunch and the service is actually very good. Don't let the long lines during lunch intimidate you. The cashiers are like robots and are... More

Essen is like a gourmet convenience store, but with everything healthy. From sushi, soups to smoothies, a juice bar, salad bar, sandwich bar, a la carte items, coffee and more. It's a great place to just grab and go or stock up on things for your hotel room.

Good selection and I like their Udon. It's a little expensive for what it is but the food is fresh and it is good quality.

If you hit this place at lunchtime, it is a madhouse. But if you're with a group of people, everyone is sure to find something they want here. It's a combination, salad bar, hot bar, food court and bodega. There is a pannini counter, a tossed salad counter, a Udon/Korean food counter in addition to everything you can think of.... More

This is another good lunch spot for anyone working in midtown or visiting it. I frequently come here to get the Udon which i feel is delicious. This place is usually full for lunch so arriving a few minutes early is a good idea. Prices are normal for midtown, so don't expect anything to cheap.

Essen market is not to be missed!! On the corner of Varick and Vandam one block from the Trump Soho. Where else in New York City can you order 2 eggs perfectly cooked to order, bacon, unbelievable breakfast potatoes with onions and peppers, and toast for $3.95??? Yesterday I had an egg white omelet with spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and onions... More

Super busy during lunch rush. Hard to find a place to sit, but the service was really fast, and the food was good, but a little expensive.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
