We ate here on a Saturday night and were able to book a table by phone shortly ahead of time. The restaurant is very cozy but not too cramped. We loved the Spanish decor, especially the tiles and murals. Two of us shared the seafood paella, which was delicious. My son had the octopus, and he said it was as... More

I came to Cafe Español on a friend holiday dinner, and I must say I've been craving the food ever since. The stuffed mushrooms are amazing and the sangria is probably one of the best I've ever had. I'm not much of a seafood person but here, the paella and grilled octopus makes an exception.

My wife and I stumbled upon this place by chance while walking by. Neither of us know much about Spanish cuisine but decided to give it a try. The staff were very well polished, and pleasant. The interior was artistically decorated with Spanish murals, and elegant. We each ordered from the pre-fix $29.95 menu. My wife ordered a salmon dish... More

If you've been to Spain or your family knows how to cook a Paella, then your expectations are very high. This place has been around for many years and has the best Paella in town! I love the service; very attentive and cordial. The food is phenomenal, well prepared and served. If you can't make it to Spain to try... More

I've been coming here for years. They have the best margaritas. I always get the mariscada in garlic sauce. Everyone I bring there loves it.

The taste of the Spanish food is incredible. But need to use fresh ingredients and to be well seasoned. I think this is the secret of this restaurant! We love the meals with mussels, shrimp and lobster,( Zarzuela I think ). Good prices and wonderful service . The perfect staff attendance and the friendliness of Johnny da Venezuela e Mr... More

We had a disappointing meal with enough bright spots to perhaps warrant another visit. While many others wéé drinking sangria we ordered two different glasses of Spanish red wine to go with our tapas.they were ample pours and modestly priced. The first plate was small red peppers stuffed with goat cheese, the contrasting flavors perked my appetite, making me eager... More

To welcome visiting friends from New England we had dinner here. High quality Spanish food (tapas, paella and more). Very attentive and thoughtful service. Really excellent sangria. Small rooms highly decorated added to the atmosphere.

I have been to Café Espanol many, many times over the years -- it's my go-to place when I'm in downtown NYC. The margaritas are the best and the lobster in garlic sauce is my absolute favorite entrée with the thin fried potatoes. And I can't forget the herbed olive oil served with bread when you are seated enjoying that... More
