Hubby and I spent the afternoon in Union Square and stopped in for lunch. The rolls were delicious and wrapped perfectly. We will definitely come back again.

My wife and I ate here with my cousin on his recommendation. We had a great meal. It was out first experience with Bento boxes and we will certainly order them again. English was clearly our waitstaff person's second language, but she was extremely friendly and pleasant. By New York standards, the cost of the dinner was quite reasonable. We... More

We ordered deep fried rock shrimp with chili mayo, and a few rolls. They were all good. The service was prompt. No problem found.

We grabbed lunch here on a weekday afternoon while exploring the Union Square area. My husband and I actually split the lunch special (3 rolls plus salad), as we had a big dinner planned later in the day. The service was very fast, and the sushi was fresh and delicious. The prices are beyond reasonable, and I'm glad that we... More

Edo Japanese Restaurant is half a block from Union Square. The Lunch specials are not only affordable but good quality Japanese food. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Dinner is good too and the restaurant is always clean and well put together. I eat at this restaurant at least once a week.

I've come to Edo several times for lunch and think their 3 roll special (with soup or salad) is one of the best deals in the neighborhood. Nothing maverick or innovative but definitely tasty and filling. Their Bento Boxes are a steal as well. Like most of the eateries in Union Square they can get quite crowded during lunch so... More

I have only had the sushi and rolls but, if this is what you are looking for, look no further. This is a genuinely worthwhile restaurant where the sushi is extremely fresh and tasty, as well as well-presented. The restaurant is on the first floor, up a few steps from the street. It is warm and welcoming; the staff is... More

Hidden among a glut of on-the-go Union Square lunch digs, Ego might easily be easily overlooked. Bottom line: Climb that short set of stairs! The 2/3 roll lunch combos are priced to compete with East Village options, but the unbelievable tastes place Ego anywhere but on par with those downtown (now backup) alternatives.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
