We dined here a few years ago. Their sign was easy to spot, but the entrance door was not immediately obvious. Once inside, we were very happy with the warm décor and wonderful staff, even though the time of arrival, 3:45 pm was odd. The staff were enjoying their break, but immediately set us up at one of the front... More

You walk up a wooden stair and you real you are in the wrong place. You are not.You enter a two room heavily decorated Indian rest. The food is well done and definitely better than the luxurious Idian restaurants of New York.Prices are fair(by N Y standards) and you can choose from a suitable wine list.Good choice if you are in the... If you enjoy Indian food and are in the Bloomingdales area, try Agra. It is a small restaurant on the second floor between 62 nd & 62 rd st. The selection is good and the prices are affordable. They also have a businessman's lunch which is reasonably priced and served fast. Leave room for their rasmalai dessert. The chicken tikka... More

This is as our third tie visitng New York and we had to try SMS Indian so we asked a friend for a recommendation and he didn't hesitate to point us to Agra. We had dinner here last week end and it was fabulous. The food was amazing, so rich and well crafted! Apparently, they mastered their craft having been... More

Not easy to find, since you need to get up the stairs to the second floor, however well worth a visit. Just very good proper Indian food, and the people are very nice and friendly.

When we lived in midtown Manhattan, we frequented this restaurant almost weekly! We tried other Indian restaurants in the area and nothing could match the food at this establishment. Now when we return to the NYC, we always try to have dinner at Agra! Jason is always there to greet us and it's nice that he has remembered our patronage... More

We picked Agra off Yelp for its high ratings, and it didn't disappoint. Like the other reviews said, it is on the 2nd floor and takes a bit of endeavor to find, but the food was fantastic. We travel a great deal, including to Hong Kong, where we have found some of the best Indian food (especially Chicken Tikka Marsala)... More

We had just arrived in NY and fancied a take away and Indian seemed liked a good idea. Tried the Agra and it was great. The stairs when you arrive are a little off putting but don't be deterred it's worth it. The staff were really friendly and stopped us over ordering (our usual mistake). My son ordered a Korma... Up creaky stairs reminiscent of dhabas in Indian cities is this cozy restaurant serving some of the best north Indian food this former Delhi resident has eaten in the USA. Service was warm and pleasant.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
