This restaurant is understated but excellent. a little mobbed on Friday and Saturday evenings but otherwise a wonderful spot for a relaxing lunch, brunch or dinner. The owners grandmother makes the Manti ( a kind of Turkish lamb ravioli swimming in Garlic Yogurt) amazing. The Kibbe are wonderful(a kind of lamb veggies and barley in a baked crust) and your... This is a second review of Agora (November, 2014) and a less happy one. I think they have become a bit too satisfied with their success. This was a delivered dinner. The salmon dish was terribly skimpy and the price was not at all worth it. While the food remains quite good, the portions are quite modest and the increase in... More

This charming little Turkish restaurant, now located on 80th Street off 2nd Avenue on Manhattan's UES, serves well prepared food at moderate prices. The menu includes a fair range of Turkish dishes and they are all nicely seasoned and beautifully presented. It is a good neighborhood place to have a decent meal with friends, while saving on the usual high... More

Portions are small. The most terrible thing is the rudeness of the waitress who is the daughter of the owner of the restaurant. When we were there she started yelling to her mother that she would not ask what we needed and she was fed up with restaurant. We would ask for more bread but afraid to ask. As a... More

Cute little place with amazing Turkish food! It's a family-owned business so they really try to make their customers happy. The decor of the place is nice, almost romantic, with old maps of Turkey, old pictures of Turkey, etc. The place is tiny, so don't bring a large group there. It's BYOB as well, so do bring a bottle of... More

Brought a bottle of wine which was promptly served with no corkage fee! Highly recommend the beet and orange salad and everything else we ordered was great. Great value, true family neighborhood restaurant.

This small but nicely appointed restaurant was a pleasant surprise. It recently opened and we had a first meal there and were very pleased. The chef and the waitress are from Istanbul (mother and daughter) and the walls are covered with photographs of that great city. The food was fresh, inventive and delicious. I hope my review doesn't make it... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
