The food and drink selections are great. It's not that every dish is the best you will have anywhere, but the quality of ingredients and focus on details is always exemplary. I love that it's still a tavern and you can get burgers as a special on some nights...ok $30 burgers. Still the place has Magic and the ever changing... More

from having to queue to give coats in to being told our choice of Sauvignon blanc by the glass was a bad choice to the minute portion and tasteless lamb main course to desserts that were tasteless----where should I start?! The reviews on this site are outstanding.am I at the wrong restaurant. It is one of the few meals in... More

I have always favored this restaurant over DM's others. It's warm, inviting and comfortable. The staff is always super attentive, there are great drinks and bartenders, and of course, delicious food. My only concern is that while dining here this past week, I was fully aware that the diversity of staff (which there always was diversity) was missing. There was... More

A consistently exceptional dining experience with extraordinary tasting menus (including the amazing vegetarian set menu), one of the best wine lists especially the Champagne list and staff that is beyond attentive. Having eaten here for over 20 years, I can truly say that Gramercy Tavern keeps going from strength to strength, unlike many others, that lose it or just fall... More

The food was excellent. Service was tops. You get what you pay for. With wine it will be 100-150 pp.

My husband and I came to Gramercy for my birthday. We didn't want the prix fix so we had to sit on the Tavern side to order from the menu. Would have loved to be sitting in a quieter spot but it was more important to us to be able to order from the al la carte menu. For my... More

This NYC classic should not be overlooked. It's undoubtedly a beauty, from the ambience to the food and drink. A perfect place to celebrate any of life's great moments. The cuisine won't disappoint, neither will the staff.

We stopped here for a light lunch (since we already had reservations for dinner) and the only regret is that we had to limit ourselves in quantities. The two of shared a couple of starters on the bar and were just amazed with food flavors. Innovative fusion tastes that were absolutely delicious. When you add to it a couple of... More

Venue and staff are fantastic and would get 5 stars but the food has become dull. Not only is there no longer a small tasting menu when seating in the bar room but the dishes are rather simple and for the cost simply not worth it. My Arctic Charr tartar was more civiche than tartar and was really just fish... More

Well, I don't know how to start writing my experience at this tavern. It was our first time in New York a it was a very especial time of my life as my bf proposed it to me at the Empire State Building on my bday. The same day he had booked to take me to Gramercy tavern. Once we... More

One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
