I've gone here for years whenever I need a place near Times Square that doesnt have too long of a wait. Food is always great. Service is quick and good. Prices are good for the neighborhood. My only issue this past visit was they gave my daughter a hard time about ordering from the childrens menu (she's 10). She is... More

Virgil's atmosphere was great. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and there were TVs scattered around but not overwhelming. The portion size is huge. Could definitely share a meal between 2 people. I knew going in that this was not going to be my Eastern NC BBQ (vinegar based) but for the most part I've always been open to other types... More

Visited virgils on Wednesday, the day before thanksgiving, we hadn't booked so we were sent to the bar first which was great, quick service and a good selection on tap. Within minutes our name was called and we were seated. Our waiter was around to us with no fuss and checked we were ok and went through a few things... More

Everytime i come here i visit Virgils. But it is always so busy and noisy. But thats the charm i suppose and i like it. Pulled pork or brisket is great as are the fries. Good lager too. Not cheap by any standard but always worth a visit.

Good happy hour for NYC, varying drinks, beer, etc. as well as food items. Sat at the bar, staff was friendly. The BBQ nachos were good.

Another restaurant that we revisited. We had been here in 2005 and went back during our visit this year. The food was still as good as it was back in 2005. However they serve huge meals and you really need to be aware of this. We enjoyed ourselves just as much as we had in 2005.

Virgil's offers Southern-style barbecue just steps from Times Square. It's a fun, family-friendly stop. Definitely book ahead if you're part of a large group. We had chicken, burgers and pork barbecue and everything was delicious and served in generous portions. Our table was pleased with the milkshakes (my daughter's was served with a pretzel dipped in chocolate and covered with... More

Four of dined here on a Saturday night before a play. I recommend a reservation. The atmosphere was good. They were decorated for the holidays. There was a huge screen showing football situated so that both upstairs and downstairs patrons could watch it. Service was fine. Two of us ordered the BBQ salad which had a good portion of chicken,... More

While working in NY a friend told me about Virgil's. I was skeptical about Bbq and southern style food in NYC being from Ga. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, service was excellent and the atmosphere is extremely nice as well. Plenty of things to look at while waiting.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
