Fantastic food, great location. Get the grilled octopus. Great for a pre-theater dinner. (A little upscale attire would be appropriate.)

I think that I may have expected more. The service was average, and I know they were busy, but I would expect more considering what we paid for our meal. The food was not too bad but being of Greek descent and coming from a city where we have many Greek/mediterranean style restaurants, I would have expected a little better....especially... More

My wife and I had been to Molyvos in the past, and decided to try it again. They did not disappoint. There are many Greek food choices on the extensive menu. We started with tatziki spread on pita, nice but a little mild. Then the grilled octopus appetizer, absolutely delicious and shared. She had the striped bass as a main... More

For our last name night, we had dinner here before seeing a show at Carnegie. Everything was delicious. Our group had the shrimp, lamb, and short rib. No one was disappointed. Dessert was spot on. All of us left satisfied, but not overstuffed. Very pricey, but worth it.

We really love this place and have visited a number of times over the years. Classical Greek dishes (such as Moussaka, giouvetsi, etc.) are quite good, so is the fish - I recommend the "whole" variety, as it most resembles a taverna style. A nice list of Greek wines, too. Service attentive. Nothing really wrong, except that our favorite appetizer... More

Always busy and noisy at dinner time before performances at nearby Carnegie Hall or New York City Center, but with good reason. The food is excellent. On this occasion we didn't order any entrees, but enjoyed their chicken and lemon soup (smaller portions than they used to be) and the irresistible taramasalata (Greek "caviar" - fish roe dip) with just-baked... Had dinner here on a Sunday post matinee with my husband. It was brought us back to memories of our honeymoon in Santorini. Delicious spreads including hummus, tzatziki and red pepper feta spread. Bean Soup and Greek Salad and Mousaka were the highlights. The service was good as I had ordered a simply grilled fish that came doused in sauce... More

This was our second visit and we loved it as much as the first time! This time we had the prix fixe starting with the Warm Fall Salad, which was a delicious creation of mushrooms, asparagus and greens, followed by excellent Salmon Souvlaki, and finished by rich chocolate mousse cake. We loved each bite! Additionally I had one of their... More

Pre Theatre on a weeknight we enjoyed multiple small plates, (grilled octopus, smoky eggplant dip and spanakopita) complimentary warm bread and hummus. We shared dinner portion of moussaka -- all dishes were well seasoned and took us back to tavernas in Greece. Nice wine, friendly and efficient staff.

Inspired by the traditions and heritage of the Greek islands and mainland, Molyvos has been one of New York's most beloved Greek restaurants since its opening in 1997. Named after the seaside village on the Greek island of Lesvos where the Livanos family roots originate, Molyvos is known throughout Manhattan for its rustic Greek country cooking. Executive Chef Carlos Carreto takes diners on a Grecian culinary journey through a variety of mezedes and appetizers, as well as hyper-local specialty Greek cheese and honey, fresh fish, wild greens and savory pies - all accompanied by the largest all-Greek wine list in the U.S.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
