This convenient, inexpensive (by NYC standards) restaurant could be located in any village in France. The hostess and waiters are all French, adding to the sense of authenticity. The food is traditional French--like escargot, boeuf bourguignon, roast chicken--nothing inventive but that's fine, it's all good, or at least what my wife and I tasted. Service was good, neither rushed and... More

My wife and I dined using the price fixe menu at La Rivage last week. The restaurant has a very pleasant interior with many large pictures depicting country sides and seascapes. We both ate the Arugula salad from the special menu for our appetizer. It was a nice size with tomatoes and cheese. My entrée was the Chicken Cordon Blew,... More

While in New York City, I ate at two French restaurants. Both were good but Le Rivage was the better of the two. I had the pre-theater three-course meal. The service was friendly. The food was nicely prepared and tasty. The Bordeaux Superior was a fine and well priced. The interior is much nicer and roomier than the street-side view... More

My husband and I ate here before seeing a Broadway show on a Saturday night. Reservations are a must! Our table was a little delayed, given the snowstorm going on outside - - people were "lingering" as the owner/manager told us upon checkin. (It wasn't a problem for us.) Once seated, our servers were wonderful - attentive, accurate and engaged.... More

Took our grown children and their dates here as a Christmas gift prior to a show. Everyone loved it and said they will always remember it! It was fun and the food was amazing. They catered to the special vegan needs of one guest and the late arrival of two. So happy that we opted to go!

My partner and I had reservations at Le Rivage last night. We have been there several times and it is our "go to" place when we are in the Times Square area. While we had a reservation for last evening we were so delayed by the holiday traffic that we were twenty minutes late. The owner went out of his... More

This is one of those special places you almost want to keep to yourself. The prix fixe is a surprisingly good value. The staff is welcoming and efficient with just a bit of a French accent to help you pretend you are somewhere else than on a busy NY street. The oven baked seafood crepe is worthy of one of... More

If you are looking for a grand dining experience of the sort your found at a 3 Star restaurant in Paris this is probably not your best bet. But, if you are looking for a very nice meal before or after theater it should be just right. The food is traditional (escargot, pate, Boeuf Bourguignon etc). There is a bar.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
