BE FOREWARNED! EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. A MADMAN RUNS THIS PLACE. At a very reasonable $39 for a pre-theatre prix fix dinner of undeniably delicious cuisine, why would anyone complain? Because the executive chef, who dysfunctions as a matre'd, is so deliberately and caustically rude that your stomach will be churning in knots and unable to digest your... More

I enjoyed my three course lunch. For $27 I thought the value was great for the food and quality. I had a great salad, salmon and peach melba. There is a large selection of items in each of the three categories. We were about the only ones in the place but a few more came in. One distraction was that... More

Quaint little restaurant serving predominantly prix fixed menu. Perfect location for a meal before a show. The French onion soup burger was a little messy, but delicious. And very different from other burgers, served on an English muffin. The beet salad appetizer was excellent. My dining companions had le bisque and coq au vin which they were very happy with.... When going to an evening performance that starts at 6:30, it is nice to eat at a restaurant that has early reservations. (I don't like to rush.) Le Rivage serves pre-theater dinners from 3:00 pm. We were greeted warmly. The restaurant is cozy with brick walls and nicely lit oil painting of the French countryside. The table was small and... More

So it's Excellent French cuisine, and I'm not going to tell you about what I ate or drank, because it goes without saying that the food you chose will be down to your preference , but I can tell you that the staff are friendly, they are experience and understand the nature of service, the food is excellent, the wines... We've been to Le Rivage many times. The food is always first rate, the staff friendly and efficient and the prices reasonable, considering the location. My girlfriend always gets the escargot appetizer; they are excellent -- very garlicky. This time I tried the Caesar salad, which was also very good. I've never had sun dried tomatoes in a Caesar salad... More

We had reservations for dinner before the theater at this charming restaurant on Restaurant Row in NYC. It's a small restaurant that has a very cozy feel to it. Service was very prompt, given that most of the patrons were going to the theater. The food was well prepared, and very tasty. My wife had the beef bourginion (not sure... More

Convenient location for pre-theater dinner on Restaurant Row. The restaurant is relatively small, but nicely decorated and attractive. We were seated right on time when we arrived with reservations. The service was very good. The fixed price dinners are excellent - a great choice of appetizers, entrees and desserts for only $29. We were very happy with all of our... More

This convenient, inexpensive (by NYC standards) restaurant could be located in any village in France. The hostess and waiters are all French, adding to the sense of authenticity. The food is traditional French--like escargot, boeuf bourguignon, roast chicken--nothing inventive but that's fine, it's all good, or at least what my wife and I tasted. Service was good, neither rushed and... More

My wife and I dined using the price fixe menu at La Rivage last week. The restaurant has a very pleasant interior with many large pictures depicting country sides and seascapes. We both ate the Arugula salad from the special menu for our appetizer. It was a nice size with tomatoes and cheese. My entrée was the Chicken Cordon Blew,... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
