The restaurant is located in a place surrounded by other Indian restaurants. The place was quite full but we could get a table for our Dinner on Sunday night. The south Indian food served was very authentic and especially the Pongal and curd Rice were well prepared. Butter Milk and Mango Lassi were also equally well made. The Aloo Bonda... More

When they saw another 20 % tip I gave. They knew they got a double tip, they should be honest . They should not leave a line for... More

For a Saturday night the place was quite full but tables were moving quickly. Our server was very friendly and we were seated quickly. Its a vegetarian restaurant, but don't let that steer you away. The interior is cute, lightly decorated. Service was great! Their menu is huge and has a wide variety food from different regions of India, but... More

My husband and I were walking on a Tuesday afternoon in the city looking for a quick bite. We have seen Pongal many times in the Curry hill area of NYC but have never ventured in. I looked at the menu displayed on the window and it looked like a usual South Indian restaurant with the general idlis and dosas... More

Very authentic Indian food that is full of flavor. Great prices and service, one of the best meals I had while in New York.

We had lunch at Pongal today and were very happy with our meal. We ordered several different dishes for the table and shared. Worked out perfectly. The dishes aren't that big which worked really good because we could taste a lot of different things. We were four people, we ordered three smaller dishes/appetizers and one entree. The food was tasty,... More

Been a while since we went back to Pongal. It was a special occasion. We landed up at approx 7pm on a Thursday and had a 5-minute wait. It went downhill from there. Either they were understaffed or the staff were poorly trained but it took a looong while for them to take our orders. Then an extremely long time... More
