IL Tinello is a real Italian find on W54th between 5th avenue and Avenue of the Americas. Reservations are advisable as we went there after a show at Radio City Music Hall. Got there early but they were able to sit us right away. Nice atmosphere, small bar as like most Italian restaurants the food is the "big deal". We... More

I went to dinner with three business associates who have an office 30 yards away but had never visited the restaurant before. The quality of the food, the presentation and the service were all excellent. The prices are high end but this restaurant actually delivered a "product" that matched the cost. The signage on 56th has to be looked for... More

We first visited Il Tinello four years ago and thought it was wonderful. Were a little disappointed this time. I think perhaps the ownership or chef has changed. The manager and waiters we encountered were not Italian. Still excellent Zabaglione made tableside. Pasta dishes were disappointing.

Il Tinello is a white tablecloth top end Italian restaurant. It is very expensive, but worth every penny. The food is excellent, and the service is superb...very attentive without being obtrusive. Formal, but not stuffy. The only downside is that it is very close to Trump Tower, so at least for the time being you would be advise to approach... More

Drinks at Bar, excellent. Evening dinner could not have been better and the level of service was over the top, always professional and always available when needed. This restaurant should be in the NYC top 25 and a must for anyone dining in NYC. Pricing on the high end of the scale, but justified by any standard of Quality. Go... More

This place is very expensive but worth it. Our meals were incredible, the service top notch. It was quiet and relaxing. I had the best tiramisu I have ever had.

Staid at Le Parker Meridien and looked for a good Italian restaurant nearby. A block and a half away on 56th is Il Tinello. Not a huge tourist place. Lots of locals. Waiters have been there for years -- always a good sign. Extensive wine list. Sommelier knows his wines as well. If you order a bottle they pour your... More

This small old fashion restaurant offers very good Italian food in a nice setting. The wait staff are attentive but not too much and make good recommendations on dishes to try. I thought the food was what you expect price wise at a nice restaurant and the wine list had mainly expensive wines. Good solid choices of both food and... More

Fast service does not mean great service, nor does it compensate for average Italian food. What was wrong? Nothing really, but the clams oreganata don't come close to those at the Palm. The linguine and white clam sauce was not right due to a heavy reliance on salt. A snooty table captain didn't make us feel welcome and had attitude... More

Unlike Patsy's, this old fashioned Italian restaurant is carpeted and feels like you're in a house. Tables are well spaced and the room is quiet even when busy. Service is gracious, more like in the 50s, food is terrific. Funny, we've never been here before but as we mention it to New York friends, everyone else seems to know about... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
