I work in the neighborhood and the food is affordable and tasty. You can't compare fast food with their food. The food is delicious and cheaper than fast food. My favorite is the oven roasted chicken with rice and pinto beans.

The mofongo is the best ever, and only like $8. I get it every single time. Also, a cold Presidente beer makes this whole thing go next level. I don't think I've ever had anything bad here. The pepper steak, the pork chop, the sancocho...More

Came here with family for lunch. Fresh flavorful chicken dishes, fantastic sandwiches and wonderful espresso. Attentive service. Like taking a vacation trip without leaving the city.

I found this to be my breakfast place in the LES. It was pretty easy to stroll in and have eggs, bacon, pancakes etc. It's quick and easy. The coffee is ok. Two of us would be in and out for around $12.

Latin American (Dominican/Salvadoran/Cuban/etc.) food is a staple around the Newark area, where the large Latino immigrant population ensures that a restaurant either serves authentic food or is soon shuttered. Tucked under Alphabet City, El Castillo doesn't face nearly the type of competition it's brethren face...More

Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving
immigrant past and its modern transformation into a
beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side
is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city.
The blocks of tenements that represented the promise
and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience
now command top dollar for new residents. Right next
