Sylvia's is delish. I love their fried chicken. Using hot sauce here is just down right disrespectful. The greens and mac and cheese are fantastic. I've been there several times and not had problems with the wait times as others have stated. Only once was...More

We spent a few hours in Harlem on our last day in New York. Sylvia's was easy to find (close to the subway) and the food was really good and the prices were reasonable. Service was a little slow, but they let us split a...More

We were advised not to go to Sylvia's but to try Amy Ruth's. Now we wish we would have. Sylvia's is not bad, but there are a few glaring issues. First the waiting process is ridiculous. These types of restaurants, Breakfast Klub in Houston, Roscoe's...More

Do yourself a favour and visit Sylvia's - sat in the outside seating and watched the people of Harlem go about their daily lives while eating some of the best soul food - great experience!!

Fried chicken with pankakes and syrup for breakfast. Not a traditional breakfast for an european, but so tasty! Big portions full of taste and flavour! Friendly and smily service.

As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has
played a vital role in the history of New York City.
Today, the neighbourhood is as vibrant as ever as new
businesses and developments go up next to local
institutions. The heart of the neighbourhood is
bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and
historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with
big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and

It really depends on the time of the day when you're there. I was there twice for dinner during my one week stay in New York last October, and didn't have to wait for more than 5 minutes. Unless you are coming with a big... More
