I've been ordering from this place for over 20 years. It's only been called El Rancho for a few years--it had a fire and was closed down for about six months and was previously called La Paloma. I rarely stray from ordering the chicken asada burrito, but have also recently enjoyed the mole chicken. Usually the portions are large enough... More

I used to eat here all. the. time. when I worked in midtown. It was our go-to burrito joint. It doesn't look like much, but man are they tasty! Sometimes incredibly messy. They actually have a pretty diverse menu, but I've only ever tried the burritos - that's how good they are.

Really delicious and authentic Mexican food here. We ordered the California burrito and a chicken wrap, both of which turned out to be much spicier than we bargained for - yet still so delicious and enjoyable.

El Rancho Burritos is a classic NYC hole-in-the-wall Mex place. Don't go there expecting any atmosphere or comfort (the dining in area is tiny and crowded, but somehow quaintly cute). You go for the food. This is the closest to "California style" mexican food you find in the City at really good prices. California style meaning that it's clean, (not... More

Inexpensive but tasty Mexican food. I had the strong taco, which was very good (shrimp and spinach and other filling). But the restaurant sitting area was tiny and very hot.

It looks like a hole in the wall, but some of the best Mexican comida around and easy on the wallet. My new go to!

At first, I was a bit worried--the place was packed and the guy behind the counter was sketchy. The food was cheap and the nachos were pretty solid. It was good for a quick on the run dinner with friends.

Used to love this place...but the manager is so horribly RUDE and constantly mistakes orders. Even for the cheap price DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ---GO SOMEWHERE ELSE where people treat their customers with respect.

Consistent authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price (for NY). Seating is limited and no AC in the summer. Great for takeout.

Well this place is fabulous to eat any time. I am ordering for the last 10 years for lunch time during the working days, or even at night or weekend with friends because the food is real traditional Mexican food, very home and all the staff are Mexican, very simple people. "Maria Burrito" is the best for me but all... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
