My friend and I had a pleasant surprise on Friday. We were looking for a place to eat and decided that it would be funny to eat in A PLACE. And you know: it was a great choice. Everything was perfect: food, decor, service. Highly...More

My husband made a reservation here for our anniversary dinner while in NYC based on reviews suggesting that it was romantic, and based on the location. The Place did not disappoint. The below ground space is very cozy and we enjoyed the ambiance even though...More

"The Place" was absolutely charming! All of the little rooms were cozy and had fireplaces. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. The menu was a great variety of soups, salads and seafood to start and there was a nice array of entree choices also....More

This is an ok restaurant in Greenwich Village, cosy and some would say on the romantic side. We were a party of six and most of my friends liked the food, I myself thought it ok but nothing special. The drinks were very good though....More

Popped in for a late brunch on a weekday. They weren't too busy and we were seated immediately. Lovely rustic-looking place with great food and service.

It's just like Duke Ellington put it - you leave NY, you ain't goin' nowhere. Same goes for the Place, somehow - there's no other place. The food, the West Village charm, the service, it's the tops! Alex, the owner, is especially charming.

This is the epitome of what a "village" restauarant should be. The room is small, with stone and candlelight and is is a romantic oasis in a quiet area of NYC. The food is excellent; the pumpkin-apple soup, silky and sublime. The scallop appetizer was...More

Well, you know your in the West Village when the service is bad, the food is average, the prices are high but the ambiance is great. To be fair there were only two other couples there so there was reason for our drinks coming 15...More

Just lovely....book in advance though it's really poplular!!!! Great menu, lovely ambience, very NYC. The prices were reasonable for Greenwich, the also had a set price menu. We went a-la-carte, but for 4 people with wine and starters was around $250 USD (£180). Lovely inside,...More

West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted
addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and
cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture,
this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to
