Made a reservation for a pre-theater dinner with our family. We arrived on time and we're told that there were no tables but it wild be a few minutes. We waited 15 minutes and were then told that it would be another 30 minutes. While the staff was apologetic we needed to make alternate plans at the last minute to... More

This is a great place for dinner. The restaurant is small but when we made reservations for 14 guests they accommodated us comfortably in one of the upstairs rooms overlooking W 46th street. The food was excellent, nice wine selection and the cost was reasonable. The quality and freshness of ingredients was fantastic. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're... More

Nice little restaurant for casual dinner or pre-theater. You might overlook it among all of the choices on Restaurant Row, but it's worth a visit.

The Hourglass does not disappoint it's busy bustling and quirky The menu is extensive and varied. We had the Lambshank and the pork chop both were excellent Good service, well priced considering the location a must when you next visit NY

The place was small and crowded. Too many seats and not enough room. The mushroom ravioli and the Bolognase were excellent. The hamburger was overcooked and burnt. The pork sliders were dry with no flavor. My daughters pigs in a blanket came out well after everyone else's meals. I would go at an off hour and you might have better... More

Service was good but food was ok. My husband loved his short ribs. My daughters strip steak was very chewy and the chicken was dry.

Neat atmosphere, sat on third floor - table was close to service kitchen and right at the top of the stairs so busy corner. Food was good, staff was pleasant and service was excellent. The Bettibar on the second floor was really happening. I am glad other people were eating up on the third floor or it would have seemed... More

The Hourglass Tavern has a unique setup with three small rooms on three floors and eclectic decor. We were a party of 12 so only shared the upstairs room with two other tables. It was nice being able to have conversation without yelling over other guests. The staff is entertaining, friendly and efficient. The food was okay. The coconut rice... More

Situated in restaurant row, we expected more. When we were first seated on the 3rd floor, the hostess asked if we would move to the 1st floor. As a courtesy, she would buy us a round for helping them to accommodate a larger party. No problem, but she never informed our waitress. I ordered the veal chop special which was... More

We had a nice time at this restaurant, but this was despite the food, not thanks to it. The dining rooms are pleasant and quiet and the service was personable and efficient, but the food - very so so. We had very bland crab cakes and even blander pasta, which was supposed to be with diablo sauce but was nothing... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
