this is one of our first stops during our annual return to NYC. It never disappoints! French toast, omelets, burgers, sandwiches, salads, milk shakes... Always busy and always worth the wait. If you have never had an American Diner experience, EJ's is a must.

We recently had the pleasure of eating brunch at EJ's on the corner of East 73rd St and 3rd Ave.in NYC. Ecah time the place/restaurant was extremely busy (which its a great sign), but each time they sat us in a very timely manner. The service is quick, and the food is 1st class. Both time we had breakfast type... More

A Classic New York Diner, we had a great New York brunch. Fresh tasty juice that was straight from the tree! Service was friendly, polite and very quick. Great to have the free coffee refills which considering how good the coffee is was a great bonus. Worth the trip up to 73rd and 3rd, so make it one you don't... More

We went on a recommendation, never again. The service was lacking any amount of quality and the food was just as unfortunate. The coffee isn't anything to write home about either.

Huge portions of conventional NYC food. A people watching wonderland. Great service.... No need to eat for the rest of the day/week/month. Go for the experience.

This place came recommended by a friend and it is also in a tourist guide to NY. What a disappointment! Food was nothing to write home about -dry waffle not even whipped cream on the side; pancakes=flapjacks as they call them here were huge and way too dry- even drenching them in maple syrup didn't make them any more appealing.... Great location, nearby central park, this cuty american vintage style dinner is perfect to indulge into pancakes after a running session in the park. Great, friendly and quick service, a wide range of nicely prepared food served in generous portions. Great value for money. We discovered the place yesterday and came back today. We will definitely come back during our... More

Firstly,i am so surprised at the low amount of reviews for the diner. I feel this is just about one of the best places to visit for a real nyc diner experience. The servers are fast and friendly and the restaurant is clean.Love their thick Mocha milkshakes and always have a good meal .A great place to visit before a... More

I enjoy a good diner, and this one is one, but there is nothing special about EJ's that made it stand out from other diners in New York City. By all means, if you are in the neighbourhood, have a visit, but I wouldn't travel cross-town to do so. Maybe the personal touch of the original owners is gone (?)

We stopped here after a few other delis/diners in the area were too packed. This one was packed too, but they managed to squeeze us in. No outdoor seating, but a nice sunroom area right on the sidewalk. Bathrooms were downstairs and clean. I got a jumbo veggie burger (not house-made, but dr. praeger's so still good) and an egg... Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
