I just had the "pleasure" of receiving a order of chicken noodle soup and a kenish. I noticed that the noodle soup did not come with any chicken or carrots. I called the Pastrami Queen and was told that they soup does not come with chicken and "very little carrots." I was told that the soup comes with 1-2 pieces... More

Visiting friends in NYC last week on upper east side, we just walked past the "queen". Seeing this place and then taking a quick pit stop at this site, that confirmed what we felt. With no place to sit but having huge appetites, we ordered two pastrami sandwiches, cole slaw, Russian dressing and two cream sodas to go. While my... More

Went back to Pastrami Queen today and it. Was better than ever. The Pastrami is lean without being, dry, rye bread is fresh and pickles and sides are terrific. I Called my order in and picked it up, but they also deliver. Don't expect to eat in, as there are only 5 or 6 tables.

We were spending the day at the Met, and this was a short walk away... it looked promising, and it definitely lived up. We split one of their overstuffed pastrami sandwiches (we were on a budget and smoked meat ain't cheap), and totally loved it. Great pickles as well, and our waiter was very friendly. A classic NY deli. We'll... More

In NYC some stoves are never turned on- their owners simply call for delivery. That's what we did for the Pastrami Queen and they really did deliver- one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Huge-moist-tender (and the corned beef was equally as good). New pickles were great and they remembered the Russian dressing. Only demerit was the potato... More

We had the award winning pastrami and it really did live up to its name! The sandwiches were huge and delicious and we had garlic chips on the side. We had to take half of ours as a take out because we were so full. One point - go early or you will be hanging around for a table. It's... More

I heard about this place because of an Anthony Bourdain interview so we went out of our way to find this restaurant a couple blocks west of the mid-part of Central Park. Well worth it! Very small if you are eating in but we only waited 20 minutes for a 4 person table during the lunch rush. We all had... More

Hole in the wall with limited seating. Best to order to go and take with you to Central Park a pastrami on rye with pickles and coleslaw if the sandwich does not fill you up.

We took a break from our annual visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and sauntered over to Lexington Ave for lunch at Pastrami Queen. Despite the bustle of people seeking take-out lunches, we were lucky to get one of the six tables jammed together. This actually contributed to the camaraderie and mood of this tiny delicatessen -- like we... More

Went on a friday afternoon, there was no lineup. We shared one pastrami sandwich for 2 ppl, it's more than enough if you're not starving. They have mustard bottles at each table, get some russian sauce on the side it's really good. The meat itself is very flavorfull and not too fatty/oily. Excellent pastrami if you're looking for something kosher... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
